I have been working at First Investors Corporation

Upper management is incredibly encouraging. The company has an absolutely fantastic work culture. Coworkers are friendly and always willing to help and everyone in the office is highly competent and knowledgeable of the industry and their products. ALL of First Investors products are quality. The mutual fund family consistently ranks highly and the life insurance products will definitely give you and your family peace of mind.

Work/life balance is almost non existent. It's common to see people working past 8 pm at night, even on Fridays. In training you are on base salary plus 25% of commissions you make. Once you reach IC status you are full commission. This can be difficult for people who do not keep consistent business building activity. There are NO health, vision, or dental benefits or 401(k). You can open up a SIMPLE IRA or SEP IRA since you are technically running your own business. You will learn a lot in this job and will always be expanding on your knowledge so be prepared to learn a lot of things at once and on the fly. You MUST be confident and will have to step out of your comfort zone to succeed. If you are driven to succeed solely by cash incentives/trip rewards you will succeed. It is sometimes hard to make completely accurate suggestions on commission because reps have to decide between selling a cheaper product or putting food on the table.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the growth! First Investors is in an exciting phase. The only thing I would say is try and devise more ways to retain more quality representatives.
