    I worked at Five Star Quality Care full-time (more than 5 years)


    Received priceless experience learning how to navigate without support
    Advertised '5-Star Values' an excellent concept - but in the end is lacking from senior management down


    Lack of training AND support - recipe for HIGH attrition rates
    Employee burnout is rampant - employees are required to produce quality results with severely lacking resources
    Highly toxic, cut-throat, by-any-means-necessary work environments throughout the company - bleeds down to the front line staff taking care of residents
    Senior Management not to be trusted

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Train, nurture and support the leadership in your facilities - the direct and powerful link between those leaders, their staff and your bottom line is crucial. Lead by example.
    Your staff is not only your #1 line item - it is your #1 ASSET!

    Never deal with employees using compromised principles, working in the shadows does nothing for your bottom line - or your satisfaction ratings. Deceit is deceit, period.

    Once a building loses its "heart", it becomes a very cold place for residents - the census and ultimately your bottom line will suffer.
