    Pros

Smart people, fun culture, bonuses are nice when games do well. This is -not- a constant death-march game company by any means. Crunch times happen when deadlines are close, but we're talking perhaps 4-6 weeks a year, max. Seriously good place to work, even considering the cons.

    Cons

Bonuses can disappear when things aren't going well. The downside of developing games is the constant changing of features, which can be very frustrating. The software development process swings from IBM style process-heavy bureaucracy to poop-flinging screaming monkey anarchy. I wish they'd just pick something and let us get used to it.

    Advice to Management

The gaming market is fickle and unpredictable; bonuses aren't much of a retention incentive when everyone knows they can wind up with nothing because a producer or designer couldn't magically read the tea leaves. They should be tied to how well the team delivered the product as asked, not just to a game's profitability.
