HNTB has some fantastic people around the nation who are passionate about transportation and infrastructure. Competitive compensation and opportunities for advancement.

Definitely a company struggling with the changes in the marketplace. In many ways, it still is structured like an antiquated geography-based partnership with political infighting between offices stifling growth and raising costs. Strategically the company is 30 years behind and is really controlled by a single individual. Incredibly risk-averse contractually, to the point that it is damaging them in the marketplace compared to other more sophisticated competitors.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take a good hard look at the corporate structure and blow it up. The Infrastructure model of geographic profit/cost centers impedes maximizing revenue and profit by job and type. Focus on putting the right resources on a job rather than hoarding revenue for an office by utilizing ill-fitting staff for assignments. Take a page from Ford and adopt a "One HNTB" strategy before there isn't an HNTB.
