I have been working at Harris full-time
Success is in large part tied to what product line you work. Some PLs have professionals who develop synergy and share successes as well as failures. Others are good-ol-boy centric and incompetence blooms.
There are the chosen ones who may or may not be competent but are adored and promoted with impunity. Definitely not a pay-for-performance organization. The saying, "Success has many fathers but failure is an orphan" could not be more true at Harris.
Advice to Management
The matrix organization is antiquated; modernize. HBX in your functional organizations is a joke. The essence of "HBX" has been alive and thriving inside successful program teams... You're just so out of touch from where the real work happens that you cannot recognize it. Where the real work is being done... They're laughing at you... seriously.
