I have been working at Hewlett-Packard as a contractor (More than 3 years)Doesn't RecommendNeutral OutlookNo opinion of CEODoesn't RecommendNeutral OutlookNo opinion of CEO
Hewlett-Packard has recently gone through a split off of it's hardware and Enterprise services which going forward should allow for a more focused effort on the contract management side. HP has their hands in a lot of different pots and so they have many different spots for people to land. PTO and Vacation time were generous as most other contractors.
The pay for contractors is not great.A salary of $15 an hour for a Data Center Technician in DC is questionable at best. Often HP will not be the prime on the contract which leaves you and your fellow HP team members pretty much powerless. You will rarely ever see your actual HP manager/pimp and when it comes time for reviews...you basically have to write your own because they often times are unaware of what you actually do day to day on the contract. Their job is to fill seats. Lackluster educational incentives and certificate reimbursement.
Advice to Management
When you have workers earning their advanced degrees and spending their off hours getting certified in order to become more valuable in helping in various areas of a contract....do whatever it takes to retain those people.
