    I have been working at Hospital Corporation of America full-time (more than 8 years)


    There are some very good people to work with and some good physicians.


    There is a disrespect by the management towards their employees. The employees are treated in a demeaning manner. The management asks your opinions just as a formality.
    However, they do not really value your input. In fact if you disagree with their ideas, you are at times targeted and are at risk for being disciplined by them or losing your job. There have been several nurses terminated that were respected nurses because they stated their opinions about things when asked by management.. They did not like their voices and hence silenced them.. The HR department uses many tactics to dismiss employees.
    They do not value diversity or difference of ideas. The administration and managers
    run a nazi-prison type camp ... The hospital does make money and most goes to the
    doctors and management. The rest of the workers receive small raises and little thanks.
    The hospital recently decreased the top out for nurses and it is several dollars less then
    the original top out pay. There has been no cost of living raises for years-- though the cost of living has increased, There is not much value placed on experience of their employees because they cost more.. So, to them a nurse is a nurse, or respiratory therapist a respiratory therapist. Difficult working environment --actually hostile environment .

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Take a sincere interest in your employees not just lip service. Change direction in
    management style. The present style is punitive, authoritarian, and actually abusive to
    your employees. Start with new thinking aspects as your management ideas are not always
    right or true-- Throw out your style of our way or the highway because by stifling ideas you also stifle solutions that can be solved by people who are actually are doing the work---
    which cannot be solved by many of your disconnected managers that do not really know what is happening on their units. Follow your code of ethics yourself- practice it- be an example. Maybe then your can create a better work environment.
    Oh,, lastly when your ideas are not successful- quit finding employees to blame for
    your own inadequacies--be accountable for your own mistakes ....Use the word I am sorry or I made a mistake..
