I have been working at Kiewit Corporation full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Job security, understanding if you have to leave early or visit the doctor during work hours, good medical benifits, 6% 401k matching, stock options (after 5-10 years with the company)

    Cons

Long hours, poor communication from upper management, high turnover, lack of recognition, no incentive to excel or be a top performer, small raises (2-3% each year), Saturday work occasionally required, resistance to change ("this is how we've always done it" mentality), frequent moving from one are of the country to another (every 1-2 years) with little to no notice

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    1. Embrace change.
    2. Reward and incentivize young top talent monetarily.
    3. Reduce work hours.
    4. Don't hire engineers to do contract administration, field engineering, estimating, or office engineering roles... none of these positions utilize any of the knowledge that engineers go to school for.
    5. Focus on the core values of the company, specifically people. They are and always will be your largest asset; spend the time, energy and other resources to treat them as such.
