    I have been working at Morgan Stanley full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Environment is encouraging and open, management is easy to access/talk to. Easy to foster relationships in various back-office specialties, even across the country, which makes solving problems and getting questions answered more efficient. Benefits are excellent.

    Cons

    It is almost impossible to get a meaningful raise here if you are support staff. They will promise you one, then end up freezing payroll, then give you a couple thousand bucks the next year. Not a ton of opportunities to move up to other positions. They seem to transfer in Morgan Stanley people in the same position from other offices when something opens, and employees don't find out that the position was open in the first place until it is filled. Management often does not seem to have the power to fix things or get something done.

    Advice to Management

    Salary should be more performance-based. Whether you are awful at your job, or excellent at your job is less relevant than the amount of time you have been at the company.
