I have been working at Raytheon full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

One of the pro's to working at Raytheon is the very friendly and highly ethical environment you get to work in. They place a sincere emphasis on ethics year round as well as excellent annual training. Every single manager I've had has displayed a genuine interest in helping their people advance and improve themselves.

    Cons

There is too much emphasis on leadership roles to the extent that it's nearly impossible to advance without taking such a role on. The sad fact is that not everyone is really cut out for such a role. This has the unfortunate effect of driving some otherwise excellent individual contributors to seek out roles they neither enjoy nor perform well in; and in other cases failing to recognize the excellent contributions of those who prefer to stay as individual contributors.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is no doubt that developing excellent leaders is essential to the health of the organization, but this should not be the sole focus and singular path for advancement. Please consider opening up more opportunities for advancement for those who contribute technically.
