I have been working at Rovi full-time (more than a year)

Great potential with a who’s who list of customers, nice colleagues, flexible hours, good cafeteria, free & great catered Friday breakfast.

Easily one of the most dysfunctional companies, without leadership accountability. They just lay off people as an easy solution whenever something doesn’t go well. Constant layoffs lead to ever-changing directions, short-term focus, survival games, severe knowledge discontinuity & gaps, huge spending on myriad consultants to fill knowledge gaps, lower productivity, frequent product delays, higher recruiting and training costs, lower morale, and employees’ animosity toward management (shown by extremely low rating). These side effects result in underperformance and more layoffs, reinforcing the layoff culture.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It’s virtually impossible to realize the Company’s great potential in the digital media without breaking the layoff-underperformance-layoff vicious cycle. This can only happen with a significant change of governance structure.
