    I worked at Safeway

    Pros

    I liked it best when I started and there were quite a bit of semi intelligent and long term employees that made for good conversation back and forth. Also we had a good management that kept us in check. We all socialized outside of work and the boys played football together. It was a very tight knit group. Also when I started, they were very very serious about excellent customer service and getting your done. If your department manager wasn't up your butt, then someone else definitely was.

    Cons

    Unless you are cashiering or working in Starbucks or Floral, you are going to be very busy. I worked in deli and you close the department by yourself. Often with a coworker that will leave early every time. If you were new, that was horrifying. The customers knew we were all about customer service so of course they took advantage. This company however is NOT focused on the customer service anymore. Their management is rude, their employees talk too loudly about their personal life. Or they are just weird.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Take some in-depth classes on customer service and proper management and maybe you can fix the problem before you just turn into a more expensive Walmart.
