One of the better paying companies, although benefits are reducing and the cafeteria is terrible

I have been working at Tesoro Corporation full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Good salary, a little less conservative environment. Contrary to online opinions/reports, they are very serious about safety.

    Cons

Benefits are fine, but not on-par with their peers. Reduction of medical benefits is occurring.

The cafeteria is awful, especially for a company this size. All of the food is prepared to be available by 11. This means if you come down at 12:30, your pizza/sandwiches/entree has been sitting there for hours.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I wish TSO would increase their presence and visibility in the community. The new Foundation is a good start, but I think we need highly coordinated and visible efforts to help out in the community.

More investment in IT, less focus on offshoring development - support local citizens instead of attempting to save money - which will not happen in the long run.

Companies are not offshoring like they used to. Other companies have seen the trade off between low wages and the time it takes to get something completed and the quality of the work is not beneficial in the long run.
