I worked at Tufts Medical Center full-time (more than 3 years)RecommendsPositive OutlookApproves of CEORecommendsPositive OutlookApproves of CEO
Tufts is close-knit and diverse; it mirrors the community in which it resides. Many support staff employees have been with the hospital for decades. It didn't take long for me to feel part of the family as I had the lucky opportunity of moving from unpaid volunteer, to practice coordinator, to supervisor of 30 people in a 3 year span. Tufts offers opportunities for advancement if you are willing to put in the work both 9-5 and networking. Many of the things that other reviewers cite as 'cons' (e.g. outdated systems, turnover, and being the underdog in the Boston hospital community) are opportunities for creative folks to innovate, opportunities that are not available to employees at larger organizations with resources to burn. Tufts is a great place to work for anyone looking to build a foundation for a lasting career in Healthcare.
You will not work at Tufts for the money. As a low cost provider, Tufts simply cannot afford to pay employees as much as some other competitors. That written, what you do not make in dollars, you will more than make up for in experience. For me, the extra experience translated to a higher-than-market value when I eventually moved on from Tufts.
