I have been working at University of Colorado Health full-time (more than 8 years)

We have some truly great people doing awesome things for our patients! They provide great care in the midst of a deteriorating culture and lack of a leadership system that helps them succeed!

Our culture has gone hill significantly! I hear daily (from all levels) how people are afraid for the jobs and that they simply do not trust the direction, nor leadership within UCHealth. Unfortunately, the spirit of excellence has been replaced with a climate of distrust and an unwillingness to go above and beyond as it may be career limiting. The new leadership that has come in over the past year (system CEO, hospital COOs) have made the issues worse, not better. Our best people have left, are leaving, or are simply waiting to retire. Although I would still bring my family to our facilities for care, I would not want them to be employed by this system (which is a very painful thing for me to say!)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Put your people and patients first. Quit saying you do, but then act in a completely different manner! Go back to the drawing board on some of the hiring choices made in top leadership positions, including top level leaders, and also have the courage to replace people (CFO, CIO) who continuously add barriers to our success for their own (seemingly) benefit.
