    Easy work, good entry level job for teens

    Cons

    High turn-over, lots of drama within the sales and management staff, hardly any hours to work

    Higher efficiently, leave the drama at home, be professional

    Pros

    You can get exposure through presenting and taking control of your business with minimal supervision

    Cons

    They promote people who don't always deserve it and don't promote those who do (popularity brown nosing).

    Advice to Management

    If you want people to stop quitting, start treating them with the respect they earned

    Pros

    They hire a little on the younger side so if your younger but looking for a carrer its a start. They also do half time for certain salaries peoples so instead of going over in hours and then getting nothing you get half your pay for every hour you work.

    Cons

    Really bad corporate visits. Alot of stores end up working 60 and 70 hours to get stores ready and corporate people and or regional managers never end up showing. This ends up happening atleast twice every few months. While they do like theyre staff on the younger side they rely to much on who can fit the image and dont always hire people for their talent but more for looks so there tends to be alot of young managers not doing their job. They also tend to have no cap on hours if something big needs to be done. If you have to work 70 75 hours just to clean a store its what you gotta do.

    Advice to Management

    Know your worth if you are salaried calculate how many hours youll be working a week then figure out how much that is per hour.
    Example if they are paying you 13 an hour and you are supposed to work a 40 hour work week but you end up working 50 to 55 hours more often then not and you dont get paid after the forty then you are wasting time and not getting paif enough

    Pros

    good benefits including automatic 401k enrollment, company tries to provide fun things like pizza parties, overall the people are nice and mean well. This is a good job if you need the money and benefits a big company can provide.

    Cons

    lack of organization/communication between departments lead to designers working over and over on the same things only to see these labored products dropped. Have seen many designers from multiple departments resign within just the last couple of months. Overall consensus between designers that design department lacks power/say in deadlines and what's expected of them. Merchants/Production have way more say in everything. Expect extreme late nights (work till midnight, maybe come in during the weekend) during times tech packs are due. Expect to spend days/weeks on end pinning pretty pictures to foam boards when you could be using that time to actually design/make tech packs because higher management like to be entertained with pretty pictures.

    Advice to Management

    Reassess priorities and communicate between between departments to eliminate meaningless work for your designers. Designers feel powerless and at the mercy of merchants/production/higher ups' whims. If things don't change, creative talent will continue to leave. Aeropostale is getting a reputation for being a bad place for designers to work.

    Exceptional discount, good and helpful corporate management

    Cons

    Poor, unprofessional atmosphere; favors near-harassment of customers to earn sale; lack of competent leadership up top. Be prepared to work long hours.

    Pros

    Salary and bonus structure were very good for retail. Generous employee discount.

    Cons

    Company had no real plan of action. Very reactionary to markdowns and promotions with no time to execute changes effectively. Expectation was that store manager would always stay to finish tasks.

    Employees were not appreciated by anyone above store level. Upper management has a vision of "Aerocool" for associates that is simply not representative of client base. One of theost toxic corporate cultures I had ever seen.

    Advice to Management

    Get rid of on-call shifts and do something for your associates. These people bust their tails for close to minimum wage and get no respect in the company.

    Advice to Management

    Instead of giving away so much money with free gift with purchases and free $5 cards every other week! During holidays be more considerate, if not with so many markdowns and promos then for sure with so much marketing changes! Every store should be able to have a promo scanner, and maybe the clothes should be shipped already sensored to cut down on lp bc it doesn't get done!

    Pros

    I was very easy to get the job, so needless to say they were not very selective. As long as you were respectful and friendly, you were most likely to land the job. Not many other pros I can share.

    Cons

    barely any hours, the management was so disorganized, communication was off because the managers never answered any of my calls. I was underpaid.

    Advice to Management

    As for the personalities of the managers, they were great people. Although when it came to actually managing the store, there needed to be some improvement.

    Pros

    Good foot in the door to retail.
    In-store staff was like family.
    Communication was open and easily accessible.

    Cons

    Underpaid by far for industry standards.
    Wore many hats at all times.
    During holiday we had floor sets almost every other weekend.
    Holidays are a nightmare: work until 3am back at noon.

    Advice to Management

    To upper management within the company: get your act together. The brand is failing and trying all these new tactics isn't helping. Listen to your customer and your in-store employees.
