I have been working at AAR full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Large company with a lot of room for growth and a wide variety of jobs.
Lots of company benefits such as on site fitness facility, cafetaria, tuition reimbursements, etc.
Company is investing millions of dollars to upgrade its facilities so employees have a more comfortable place to work.

    Cons

    Compensation is below industry norms.
Cross training and processes are not very standardized. Different people say different things on how something should be done. Makes it difficult for new employees to understand the flow process.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Develop an analytics department to get ahead of the industry rather than just getting by with day to day activities.
More emphasis needs to be placed in collecting data in individual departments to a consolidated source that can be shared amongst other departments so the whole company can be smarter and learn from the work of other employees.

I have been working at AAR full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

AAR has some amazing benefits -- Tuition Reimbursement, generous health insurance, ample vacation and sick leave. The programs are there -- it's up to you to use them.

    Cons

It all comes down to who your immediate supervisor is. As with any large organization AAR has some good and some bad. When you are assigned to work for one of the more challenging people, it's up to you to find a way. I suggest taking advantage of the tuition reimbursement program to gain skills that enable you to move on either inside or outside of the company. Education is one thing that no one can take from you!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To the challenging ones -- stop micro managing your people. Let them find their own way and let them know that you are there to help if they need you. Trust your people and get out of their way.
