I worked at ABBTECH Professional Resources full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I worked as a contractor to the State Department and was paid by ABBTECH for one year. I'm thankful that I could continue my job with State and I received a pay raise when I signed on with ABBTECH. + Decent benefits + Paid weekly through direct deposit + 4 weeks of PTO (2 a piece for vacation and sick, although you can use them however you wish) + Pretty good health insurance through Kaiser Permanente + The liaison to ABBTECH and State was extremely helpful in navigating the contract negotiating process

    Cons

    - Because I worked under a contract with the State Department, I was only going to work with ABBTECH for one year - No 401(k). Because of the high turnover of contractors, ABBTECH apparently doesn't need to offer any sort of incentive to stay with the company for longer than the contract's duration - ABBTECH is similar to many small companies in the DC area that charge the government as much as it can and pay its contractors as low as it can to maintain a healthy profit margin. It views its employees as costs to consider rather than resources to invest in, hence the large turnover - Being a contractor and an on-site employee, it's easy to feel detached from ABBTECH

    Advice to Management

Find ways to better engage and keep your on-site employees and offer a 401(k)!

    Approves of CEO

I have been working at ABBTECH Professional Resources full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Compensation easily increased. Mobility in compensation totally dependent on billing, so if times are good, you can make a lot of money. If you land on a successful team/there is work to do, you will have success if you try. The best thing is you get paid for exactly the hour you work, so if you chose, work/life balance can be very nice.

    Cons

Cut-rate benefits. Majority of staff anticipated to leave within a year.. Nothing for retirement whatsoever.

    Advice to Management

Don't show favorites. Offer competitive benefits and salary. Spread the wealth.

    Pros

It's a nice building. Good offices and the people are generally nice. Benefits package is pretty standard and it's a very respectful environment. Good training as well.

    Cons

It's a family owned business so to move up you have to move on. Their starting pay is not very good. There are pro's but overall it simply is "ok." It's not a career move. Abbtech is just a job.

    Advice to Management

Not really much advice I can give. It's a tough industry and sometimes they go after more than they can chew and employees suffer but that's what companies have to do sometimes to grow.
