I worked at ABM Industries full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

It was fun sometimes, it was usually quiet, you were usually alone, management usually didn't come to the contracted property.

    Cons

Payroll messed up a lot and didn't seem to care in the slightest about you, management didn't seem to know anything about the contracted property or what was going on there, none of the management cared.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Check up on contracted properties at least once a month, speak with property clients at least once a month and talk to the employees put on that property about what is going on, treat your employees with respect.

I have been working at ABM Industries

    Pros

Full time work. My site is flexible with hours. Decent pay. Eventually I'll have benefits. Great coworkers. My site manager actually cares about me.

    Cons

Two out of three paychecks have been messed up. Overpaid by 136 hours and they punish the employee who's honest and calls about it by taking all of your money until it is paid back, only they screwed up again and didn't tale the first half of the hours and are completely unwilling to work with the employee so they can take care of bills.

They say they will provide uniforms and shoes but don't.

Branch manager is rude and treats people like they are worse than scum.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Fire the incompetent payroll.

Work with your honest employees who bring up pay issues so it can be resolved fairly.

Don't allow branch mangers to create a hostile environment.

I have been working at ABM Industries (more than a year)

    Pros

Benefits, co-workers, accessibility, free parking, not much more else to say. The tips are nice if you can get some.

    Cons

Very poor upper management. Managers make supervisors do all the work. The top executives don't check on employees. They switch managers a lot due to favoritism

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat employees equally, pay attention to all employees, don't assume all managers are handling their business

I have been working at ABM Industries full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

flexible hours, a lot of good people who work hard, get to work at many of the top companies in the area as a service vendor

    Cons

most of upper management could care less about employees, and in a service industry, that is not the right approach. lack of development for employees seeking to move up, extreme work loads and no support staff, local manager does not think it is his job to care about employees, very little teamwork, so big that most employees are just a number, and are treated as such...easily replaceable and not valued

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

understand that your employees MAKE the company... it is managements job to encourage, support, train, develop provide a safe work place to, provide appropriate monetary compensation to and genuinely CARE about the employees, from the newly hired janitor to middle management and office personnel... it takes all of us to make it a good team, not just the sales and revenue generators.

    Pros

Very easy work for the job, surrounded by nice staff at my level. Did promote from within when possible, which was 2 times in 2 years.

    Cons

Extremely low pay. Often taken for granted by upper management, and once risen to certain level no growth available because each location had no contact with others.
