LAYOFFS, LAYOFFS, LAYOFFS........

Payroll Representative (Current Employee)

I have been working at ADP full-time for more than 5 years

ProsTime-off (when you can get it approved)
Benefits
Co-workers
Technology

ConsThey micro-manage you to death and did I mention layoffs? This company is notorious for layoffs. You will never have security working here. The Small Business Services unit has gone downhill fast. They no longer WANT to service small business clients. They have figured out a way to get them to do their payroll on their own and still make money from them without having to pay for labor to service them. They've gone so far that they no longer even tell their new clients they can call in their payrolls even if they need to.

As a Payroll Rep, hours will be inconsistent and you will have no control over your shift, it will even fluctuate from week to week. Trying to pull this off and having a family-life is close to impossible.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou're letting all your best employees go. Ones that have worked for you for 15, 20 and even 30+ years. Do you have a conscience? I used to love this company and was so proud to work here. Now I just wait for that meeting telling us it's our turn to pack up. Also, please don't really make me sign a severence agreement that says I will not file for unemployment.

Good place for a job, laid back

Director (Current Employee)
Roseland, NJ

I have been working at ADP full-time for more than 10 years

ProsADP provides great flexibility, cares about their people, and compensates fairly.

ConsCareer development is slow here; people are in their roles for a long time. Benefits are average. There seems to be a lot of talk of new initiatives with little action behind it.

Great company to start with but limited growth

SBS Associate District Manager (Current Employee)

I have been working at ADP full-time for more than a year

ProsGreat training for entry level, managers try to cater to you but are limited to corporate policies. Events are fun to attend. Great potential to earn big money.

Conscareer growth seems limited. Tend to only look at numbers brought in rather than the actual value of the employee. Very sales and numbers driven company.

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat your employees better, help them learn to sell, coach them. Do not micromanage

Good, but slow-moving company

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at ADP full-time for more than 10 years

ProsNice benefits, fair salary, overall good people.

ConsSlow moving. Analysis to paralysis.
Work/life balance is compromised due to unrealistic workloads.
Often times the hardest and best workers are used to carry the load while the slackers keep on slacking. No real consequences for those who don't do their job.
Upper management constantly coming out with new initiatives that add more work with little return on their investment.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep it simple.
Reduce all the large meetings that get nothing accomplished.
Reward excellent performance
Get rid of those associates who do not do their jobs well.

Great people, great training, tough sell, low pay

Major Accounts Sales Representative (Former Employee)
Chicago, IL

I worked at ADP full-time for more than a year

ProsThe training is amazing. They invest a tremendous amount of resources for you to be skilled at your craft.

ConsLow pay, micro managed, very competitive marketplace . The minute you're given a territory its go time. The coaching stops and the micromanaging starts.

Advice to Senior ManagementMore positive reinforcement and guidance would be great. Then everybody wins

– I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Standard Interview, Lacking Communication

SBS Associate District Manager (Former Employee)
Warwick, RI

I worked at ADP full-time for less than a year

ProsNice people. Solid product. Quality benefits. Good opportunity for upward mobility and bonuses.

Cons"Standard" sales job. Can be lonely with all the driving from place to place. Territory can be spotty. Management is stubborn.

Advice to Senior ManagementLook past experience and into quality. Just because somebody has had sales experience doesn't mean tang they are a better sales person. Numbers should do the talking.
