I have been working at ADP full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

ADP has offered me a promising career in sales, backed by world-class training and support from sales management. But the job is not for everyone - you must treat your sales career at ADP as the owner of your own ADP franchise and take ownership and accountability of your performance. Hunters with a entrepreneurial spirit will win, because they are backed by a superior product delivered by an industry leader.

I started at ADP in SBS Sales (solutions for employers with under 50 employees) and was given an historically weak territory to start. You might hear from other reviews that opportunities are not distributed fairly - but those are just excuses for failure. I struggled at first but once I proved my ability to sell, my territory and overall sales opportunity was improved immediately (managers want to put the best players in the best territories - this is a business after all)

Compensation plans are competitive with the industry - but most importantly, are tied to performance standards and the company's overall growth strategy (example: Unit requirements for president's club tied to marketshare growth) - The people who find a way to win are never complaining about their W2.

I have since grown from SBS Sales to HR/BPO Sales - after I recognized a growing opportunity and took the initiative towards that position. You must be in the driver seat of your career - the resources for growth are there if you look/ask for them.

I now run my own business at ADP - yes I have a quota and a manager to answer to, but if you demonstrate your ability to execute on corporate initiatives and produce results, micromanagement will be non-existent and you will find yourself making your own hours and enjoying a work/life balance.

Again, sales is not for everyone, especially in this organization. But if you have what it takes and are looking to sell for an industry leader that empowers it's sales people with the training, support, and sales tools - then ADP is a great place to start.

    Cons

Navigating the politics that come with any sales environment can be difficult. Especially when your career aspirations and your direct manager's interests may not be aligned. Don't be afraid to reach out to individuals in other business units, and more tenured sales reps for mentorships (yes, you have to be willing to ask for help)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Maintain your industry leadership position so your salespeople can continue to push the best product in the market.

I have been working at ADP

    Pros

Multiple divisions that an employee can work in. There are many job opportunities and you are encouraged to find a mentor or mentors. The training is great no matter what the subject matter and my leadership encourages and develops their employees.

    Cons

Other than it's a big company...learning where to go for certain things, but generally someone can always point in the right direction

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My current leadership team is very involved in my development so I would say that as long as they kept up with that...job well done.

I have been working at ADP full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

I have worked with ADP only a few years, but my experience thus far has been fantastic. I was promoted within my department within a year, and recently applied for an internal opportunity, and successfully attained the new position. I was fortunate to have a very supportive direct manager and department director that promoted career growth, both inside the workplace and outside the workplace (i.e. furthering advanced education or attaining certification).

They were able to position me to have a better understanding of the company culture and its goals. Leadership even goes to the extent of suggesting mentoring "one-on-one" meetings, to update resumes and discuss associate growth and personal career goals.

As long as you keep an open line of communication with your direct manager about what you want to accomplish within the company, they will try their best to get you down the path you will enjoy the most.

    Cons

During the Great Recession, as with most public companies, ADP underwent a downsizing where organizational lay-offs took place. Those employees who were exposed to those lay-offs but did not get terminated bring in a paranoid, negative state-of-mind... For newly hired associates, be aware of these employees, because they may influence your state of mind of the company and your day-to-day work experience. Go into this work opportunity with a objective point-of-view, and formulate your own opinion of the condition of the company.

Benefits expense have increased year-to-year, but that is likely attributed to the nation-wide change regarding health insurance...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

As the company tries to stay current with the always-changing market, leadership will have a tendency to be focused on newly hired associates, with new ideas and new initiatives. It is understandable why it is important to evolve with the market, but do not forget those tenured associates who bring a wealth of knowledge and experience. They should be provided the same opportunities as newly-hired associates...

"Don't forget the horse you rode in with".

I have been working at ADP

    Pros

ADP is very good at making sure they help their employees progress forward with their career by giving them every opportunity to improve performance. Management makes sure that are working closely with the team to help with the career progression.

    Cons

The only downside to this job is that they competition for upper level work is very competitive and not easily obtainable by performance only.

  11. I have been working at ADP

    Pros

great benefits and great coaching that allows an individual to succeed and grow within the company. always looking to promote from within first.

    Cons

very tough job if you dont have the patience for it. lots of rejections and lots of cold calling. have to have the personality in order to succeed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

great job thus far, however I would recommend a more hands-on training regimen that isn't just all web based. this will help in the long term for employee benefit.
