I worked at ADT Security Services

    Pros

Great office building with company subsidized cafeteria, gym, doctor's office, green market, etc. Salary and benefits are competitive.

    Cons

Long hours, mechanical and thoughtless work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you hire the brightest people and put them in jobs where they just do routine tasks, they get bored. If you then make them work long hours through no fault of their own, they will quickly find another job. It's such a bureaucratic company that your managers are mostly powerless to help you. Change must come from the very top.

I worked at ADT Security Services

    Pros

Service personal where very good for the most part. , Co-workers where willing to help you if asked. Benefits good if you needed them.

    Cons

Over the top local micro management . Committed to budget on hire you signed agreement when you came on board Local manger would raise with out telling you and run with own program. Commissions where not competitive for the time spent .On average would have to sell about 17 to 20 systems a month to make 40-50K

I worked at ADT Security Services full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Decent pay when you can make money.

    Cons

Totally inconsistent scheduling. Bosses make promises they can't keep. Was told during interview I would be getting 12-15 company appts a month...before I left I was only getting maybe 4. The rest of my time was spent calling and knocking on doors. Management not very supportive. For being one of the oldest alarm companies in America, a surprising number of people haven't heard of them. Too many 3rd party companies selling products even cheaper than corporate does. Customers don't care that they are getting somewhat outdated equipment if it all performs the same functions

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Actually support your reps when they are struggling, don't wait 3 months to make sure they are set up to receive all their leads

I have been working at ADT Security Services

    Pros

Independence over daily activities. decent insurance. Good brand name recognition

    Cons

The company has gone downhill since Tyco split: Hardly any leads. Commission only job. Some positions may offer a salary, but make sure it clearly states it in the job posting. If you can't knock doors and/or use the telephone, DO NOT even consider it: 90% of your sales will have to come from soliciting. Commissions are low on your first few sales. Quotas are unrealistic. Competition from AT&T and Comcast is fierce.

I have been working at ADT Security Services full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Flexible hours, always off on Sundays unless you choose to work

    Cons

Management is terrible. The payment structure is disgraceful. When I first started there, commission was 50/50, you get paid half your money when you sell a system, then the other half when it got installed. However, they decided to change it where you get nothing when you sell it, and 100% when it gets installed. Besides wondering when the customer could get it installed, you have to rely on the techs to do their job right, but they don't. They always screw something up, yet they still get paid. If they do not close out the job properly, you don't get paid. The techs also have a union to protect them, so it's not like one bad job can get them fired. You also can't choose which techs you want, so you pretty much have to pray that you get a good one. I just couldn't rely on another person getting me paid, if I did my job right, i need to get paid for it; I have nothing to do with a bad tech.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change the payment structure for reps.

    Pros

IF you work hard, check after everyone to see that they do their job, and make sure everything is input correctly then you can make a good deal of money. 60% of your time is spent on getting your sales installed, completed and billable so you can get your commission.

    Cons

This is a commission only job and you are the only one looking out for yourself. Turn over rate for this position is 85%. On boarding is very weak given the number of time they go through it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs to practice what they preach. Customer Obsession needs to be a way of doing business and not just a sound bite.
