I have been working at ALDI full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Always something new- a lot of responsibility and autonomy. Skip the entry-level job and have a challenging and rewarding career right out of college. Fast growing company and opportunities for anyone with the drive to take advantage.

    Cons

Long hours sometimes. It can take a toll on someone who lets work overcome them and can't strike a balance. Sometimes you have to pull yourself away because nobody else is going to.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't burnout your young leadership. They are the future of the company. Continue investing in developing great leaders at the executive levels.

I have been working at ALDI

    Pros

Great pay and benefits! Communication from top down is quick and efficient and available to the lowest level employee. Product turnaround is fast and customers are the best in the business! 7 paid holidays a year and 6 closed holidays is unheard of for retail. No cards or loyalty stuff to mess with. Just sell some groceries and maintain your shrink.

    Cons

Very physical work. Store managers are required to work every Saturday unless on vacation. Promotion beyond store manager is rare.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep doing what you're doing!

I have been working at ALDI full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, Great pay. The job itself weeds out coworkers who don't have a strong work ethic. Promotes self-reliance and self-motivation.

    Cons

Physically demanding. Sometimes long shifts (9+ hours), that are intensified but the amount of physical labor you do on daily basis.

If you want to be full time you are essentially "on call" and need to have open availability. No taking classes or requesting certain nights off for your bowling league or whatever.

Burnout rate for cashiers is very high.

If you respond better to positive reinforcement, this is not the job for you. They only let you know when you are doing something wrong.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Explain the chain of command better at hiring. And let people know full time means just that. Full time.

I have been working at ALDI full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Health Insurance for employees who work more than 20 hours a week.

    Cons

Understaffed, had 3-4 employees running an entire grocery store. Stocking, ringing, cleaning everything. Only 2 employees would close down the store at night. In total I think we had about 10 full time people running a store that brought in over $30,000 in sales on a weekend. Not to mention the complete lack of references after you leave (they only will confirm that you worked there during a time frame) and it's impossible to get corporate on the phone. They also lowered the started pay from $10.80 to $10 during the 2 years I worked there. Despite making more money those years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire more people and increase the starting pay. Aldi makes enough money to do both.
