I worked at ARC Document Solutions full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Very high quality products and services from acquired entities. Very impressive outputs, given low incentives...

    Cons

Decision making by fear and P&L numbers. Highly unethical HR practices. Company size based on M&A, versus business growth. Unrealistic goals and expectations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make more realistic goals, uninflected by obscured YOY numbers based on your best year and the new revenue from an acquisition. Earn the trust back of employees by not treating them as unessential to your success. Stop putting unqualified management in positions who lead by following directions, and make decisions based in ego and reactive actions from trying to manage their organization though metrics like the GUP.

    Pros

Very laid back company. Definitely a company for a college student. You would have plenty of time to study. A place to get your feet wet in the workplace.

    Cons

Management aren't skilled in their field. Not enough work to go around. The pay is not competitive.
    There's no room for growth.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Assess necessary needs before hiring additional manpower.

I have been working at ARC Document Solutions full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Flexible with hours and good work/life balance. Upper management does not micromanage.

    Cons

Not very competitive with salaries. They haven't given a raise in years, but have pushed more and more work on the employees. The moral is horrible and upper management doesn't do anything to try and correct it. 4 years ago, they took 5% pay from each employee and hasn't done anything to give it back or even make it worth it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus more on making your employees happy instead of having the midset that we are just 'lucky to have a job". The moral is low on the operational level and doesn't seem to be getting better. Eventually the customers will feel the moral since the employees are caring less about the job they do.

    Pros

Upper management had a knack for hiring people that worked well together and were very talented and dedicated. The staff itself was great, co-workers were great.

    Cons

Zero upward mobility, you'll die in the position you're hired in.
Sales staff can do no wrong, production staff can do no right.
Favoritism by upper management is obvious
Climate seemed to be degrading, morale was low and getting worse.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You hire good people, but you castrate their abilities and knowledge, encourage growth rather than squashing it.

    Pros

The do have a lot of services to sell. They did buy out a lot of small local companies that had good reputations with their customers, particularly in the AEC market.

    Cons

The company is heavily leveraged and struggling financially. The have gone through several rounds of salary and employee cuts. moral is sinking below the floor. Their major market is California, which headed for bankruptcy and many of your customers could be fleeing to some other state. Senior management cashed out a long time ago. The quotas went up as the market for their services dropped.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Sell the company.

Someone needs to communicate to the local employees, especially at OCB/CR

I have been working at ARC Document Solutions

    Pros

Field service, not locked to a desk all day, Excellent Benefits. OCB has generous time off policies.

    Cons

Local Management does not, and has not in the last year or so communicate to employees during the downturn in the housing and construction market, where the company is headed. Just lots of Pink Slips on Thursdays. generous time off, but most employees do not take vacation as allowed, and end up not taking advantage of this policy with "too busy" remarks on returned on disapproved vacation tickets, due to layoffs resulting in skeleton staffing. Field Techs are getting killed by rising fuel prices, with NO hope of ANY help from the company. I fully expect retaliation/termination from the company if they use their legal force to disclose my identity. "Ethics Point" is a joke, designed to protect department managers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

For the local Management at OCB - Talk to your employees. Why not follow the Senior Corporate management at ARC and COMMUNICATE to your people what is happening at the company. We like our jobs, and enjoy the work we do, but in the last year this has become an unsatisfying place to work. Sr. Management at ARC is TRYING to keep things moving in the right direction, but local management seems to be stuck in the 1970's with their thinking. Panic first, react later.

I have been working at ARC Document Solutions full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The company has a good work culture, very friendly and open atmosphere. Management is accessible to all. If you want to learn on the job, you have a good opportunity here but you have to be honest to yourself and not utilize the time you get.

    Cons

Biosness - If you are anywhere close to be known to the higher management, you stand a good chance of going places here. Regardless of the work you do. But if you're not, growth and opportunities is like a leap year :)
Its a software company but no proper software life cycle or process being followed by any dept.
Right people in right positions should be hired and they should have the authority to take decisions and not be a puppet in the management's hands.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They should be neutral when it comes to giving opportunities, benefits/compensation and growth to all employees.
A little more process oriented with proper corporate work culture.
Lastly, not to mention biosness towards "known faces" or "racial/religion" favorites.

    Pros

You are challenged each and every day. Interactions with many people make for an interesting learning experience.

    Cons

Low moral caused by corporate. Be prepared to handle at least 4 people's positions. Constant fear of layoffs. Pay cuts instead of pay raises.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get out of the spreadsheets and listen to what your customers and employee's are saying about service. Give back the cuts to the loyal people.
