    I worked at AT&T

    Pros

Pay, Benefits, Tuition reimbursement, Work environment

    Cons

    Stress level
    Quick to clean house
Management has 'been in your shoes before"

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take time to actually listen to store reps. Just because you were a rep 4 years ago doesn't mean you know exactly how every customer talks about the company and products.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

I have been working here for a little over 6 months. I moved from North Florida down to the Tampa area and I'm so glad I joined the AT&T team. I can work from home and still have the benefits of working from the office. Great benefits, Time Off, Vacations, bonuses.

    Cons

I wish they weren't so black and white when it comes to their policies. Sometimes its hard to fit a round peg into a square hole.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Lighten up. Less micro management and more trust with your employees. Stop hovering!

    I worked at AT&T full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Open to remote work, while I was assigned an office my entire team was in separate cities so I basically worked remotely.

    Lots of learning opportunities.

Lots of places to move to in the company.

    Cons

Layoffs were frequent in my division due to an aging workforce and aging product.

Large divide in who had old-school knowledge and who had new-school technical skills.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Mandate Excel training for all managers.

I have been working at AT&T

    Pros

All employees I worked with were like myself began at a point of an entry level position and were then promoted from within.

    Cons

All of the non-customer facing positions such as software developers and analysts for example are centrally located in either Dallas or Atlanta. If you live outside of either of these cities, the only options available are customer facing positions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The key difference I found after working under many different managers is some are able to position their sub-ordinates in strategic places where their skills can be leveraged as well as made visible to new areas of the business. The managers need to keep their people engaged in more than their current role as products and services are continuously changing. If a manager remains solely focused on their present tasks, their team will suffer when reorgs arise as they inevitably do every year.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Good pay, good benefits, has stayed relevant for 138 years.

    Cons

Slow and painful process to instigate change and get approvals for significant projects.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Lead rather than follow.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits are very good, most of the work involves little contact with a supervisor, opportunities to advance higher into the company

    Cons

Some of the expectations and compliance metics are a joke. They expect everyone to be a salesman when you are working in a customers home

I have been working at AT&T full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Benefits, 401 K, Paid time off, Union, Vacation, half off your phone bill, tuition reimburstment

    Cons

Everything is based on seniority so don't expect the days you want off for vacation, you bid on a schedule and have no real off days, you can't request days off without having vacation and it needs to be put in a month in advance, you can't go to school or do anything unless you part time MAYBE, you don't get promoted or to transfer is someone with more seniority applies over you, you can't get to corporate without becoming a manager, work/life balance is horrible
