    I worked at AT&T full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

AT&T management positions are plentiful once you get your foot in the door. It's a large company so there are many opportunities for lateral movement between departments. If you're just staring off in you career, it's better to be at Headquarters in Dallas, TX or Atlanta, GA to work in Mobility. Benefits are good also, but salary might be at or below industry average.

    Cons

Antiquated views on growth for the company is what ultimately drove me away. The company is over 100 years old so some departments still possess bureaucratic, slow process improvement, micro-managing bad habits. Again, you as long as you work in areas of the company that are profit-generating and growing you should be fine.

I have been working at AT&T

    Pros

Great employees made lasting friendships. Free phone, discounted phone service, good training, good hours, ability to transfer.

    Cons

Pay used to be good, commission structure has changed and is not as beneficial to the sales person. High pressure, part time mandatory 5 day work week. Part time used to be beneficial but now it is only a few hours less per week without the benefits of full time. Unfortunate.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay what people are worth. You seem to be inconsistent, you retain some employees because they have so much time in title but people that are hired during a low pay contract usually get frustrated and leave. This structure cut peoples income significantly.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

There are plenty of areas to contribute and a wealth of experience and opportunities to learn if you take advantage. Lateral moves are very easy and welcome, promotions are attainable but competitive like any company. There are also plenty of people perfectly content with no movement.

    Cons

Culture is slow, settled, and resists change. Promotions are hardly rewarded. I have been promoted twice to get into my current position but a new hire MBA graduate could easily make 60% more than I do.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If people are worth promotions, make it worth it. I'm relatively new to my role but with a couple years experience, there is very little keeping me here. Delegate control more. Too many decisions require VP+ approval which means if they aren't a certain scale, it won't get happen.
