I worked at AVI Foodsystems Inc.

    Pros

Excellent vending and food program. Good client list. Hard working associates. Networking opportunities. Decent benefits.

    Cons

Zero training. Very little support from corporate. Employees are spread very thin, and are overworked and underpaid. Pay increases are minimal.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop operating like a start-up venture, and conduct business like a mature company. Invest in training, invest in technology, and invest in seasoned executives (VPs) who can develop a vision and sell it from the top down.

I worked at AVI Foodsystems Inc. full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good hours. Most locations are closed in the evening and weekends so its nice to get off work early in the day.

    Cons

Lack of diversity within management, unfulfilled promised promotions, low pay for sometimes double or even triple the work load.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote from within the company instead of always hiring outside managers. This is very frustrating to employees who have been with the company for a number of years, especially when they have to train the new manager. Also, upon arriving to a new account don't feel you have to make drastic changes if the location is already running smoothly.

I worked at AVI Foodsystems Inc. full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Good learning for Customer Service Accounts. Good fresh food.

    Cons

Company refuses to modernize and still is a pencil and paper organization. I haven't done things in the Vending business for the last 20 years and trucks and equipment antiquated.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To much nepotism. Quit hiring losers from other companies and have a training program for new managers and support the local branch to staff the vacant positions, turnover is horrendous.

I have been working at AVI Foodsystems Inc.

    Pros

Satisfying teamwork, great products and service.

    Cons

High turnover in lower level positions and no succession plans for middle and upper management has stagnated profit growth. Our approach and outlook toward the future has gone from long term to the very short term. Retention of unprofitable business for cash flow is worrisome.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Uphold and support our Core Values.

I have been working at AVI Foodsystems Inc. part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Paid well (because I worked in a factory that had a union which also took a lot of money because of union dues and initiation fees) , flexible hours (because of manager not company)

    Cons

Factory workers were picky and displeased with the function of the machines and they expected me to be able to fix it but I was not trained for that. Most of my cons are for the factory I worked at, not AVI.

    Pros

Great work/life balance compared to industry average
AVI does care about it's Client (so they can renew a contract)

    Cons

30% lower pay than industry average
Lack of support from Warren, OH
Food standards are not as "AVI Fresh" as advertised
General Managers have to wash dishes, be prepared
Good employee's is extremely difficult to find at starting $8.37/ hr

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more aggressive recruiting and paying for top talent

I worked at AVI Foodsystems Inc. full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Pay was decent, benefits good, other co-workers was pleasure to work with.

    Cons

Upper management was over worked by owner of company. Owner didnt seem to care that people working for them had lives, family etc...could not believe some things I heard from branch managers and regional mangers on how they were treated at times by owner.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Owner need to appreciate the people that work for them and be more respectful. People don't work for you 24/7 365 days a year...
