Customer Service Representative (Former Employee)
Atlanta, GA

I worked at Aaron's full-time for more than 3 years

Pros-Good pay
-Lots of opportunities to grow within the company
-Customer relationships
-Fun environment (depends on which store)
-Busy (again, depends on which store)

Cons-Management needs to be accountable for their customers (i.e actually return customer calls, don't wait 2 months to deal with a service issue)
-There can be long hours
-Lots of pressure for numbers!

Great Opportunities/ Working with the company is like working with family.

General Manager (Current Employee)
Indianapolis, IN

I have been working at Aaron's full-time for more than 3 years

ProsCompany is great it is a one stop shop for many of our customers. The company gives the stores and store manager control to provide the best quality customer service a retail company can provide. It allows us to create and build long lasting relationship with our customers. In addition, working in the company is like working with family members. Working at the store level is like being at a second home to many. There are many talented people in this company which makes it a very good company to work for. The culture is very apparent and it does motivate many to put the consumer first. The benefits are great as well.

ConsWork-life balance needs to be improved. It is great that our stores are essentially a second home but many things needs to be addressed to reduce the amount of hours for the management team. I would suggest reducing the close time to 8pm and reduce so many 12-13 hour days. Providing a training store for new associates will greatly reduce many holes in our training regiment. Company still needs to instill a better work life balance.

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement communicates very well. However, there are so many changes within the company that so many things in operations at a retail level still has much opportunities to improve upon. Follow up needs to be maintained and all the objectives and goals can be better well prepared rather than to make so many spontaneous quick changes. Change is essential for every company; however, there needs to be a better drawn out plan with follow up being enforced.

Definitely Opportunistic!

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Aaron's full-time for more than 8 years

ProsComplete ownership mentality of managing the store creates unlimited income. Perform and get paid. Benefit package is/has become remarkably competitive to compete with some of the top companies in America.

ConsDo not perform, (as with any career), you should seek other opportunities. Retention rate low. Stress level high. Difficult to forecast length of career to obtain personal assists with no worries. Month to month, quarter to quarter, difficult for employees to embrace job stability.

Advice to Senior ManagementAnalyze why a market may/may not be successful. Seek advice from Mid-level management on success/non-successful operations. When upper level positions become available, list them as being open for interview as other positions (equal opportunity) instead of appointing a person successful for the moment. Position the right people in the right position. Experience before momentary success. Decrease turnover. Provide a "parachute" for those that climbed the management ladder yet, were unsuccessful in their new found position. They still have valuable skills.

Absolutely great company, Good people, coming into the 21st century way of doing business

King Air Co-pilot (Current Employee)
Atlanta, GA

I have been working at Aaron's full-time for more than 5 years

ProsExecs are nice, easy to get a long with, and always tell you exactly what they expect. Flying for Aaron's is a breeze with an easy schedule and everyone for the most part is very cordial. New management and leadership is definitely an improvement and the company and employees are reaping the benefits.

ConsSome still antiquated practices. Like using personal credit cards to travel and wait to get expenses reimbursed. Slow to make decisions and often just talk about changes without being able to pull the trigger.

Advice to Senior ManagementLook at the quality of life for associates. Hear often from lots of people that there is lots of talk about changes with very little results coming through. Also, would like to see company credit cards for those who travel on a frequent basis. It's not right to make someone put thousands of dollars on personal credit and wait for weeks to have it reimbursed. This effects one's personal credit and can disrupt a vacation or personal needs when money is tied up in company funds.

Learning experience but good one......

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Aaron's full-time

ProsOverall good company. Laid corporate culture. The company does a good job of providing on the job training especially for new hires. The opportunity to move to another position in the organization is there because Aaron's emphasizes promoting from within.

ConsThe pay. Aaron's in general pays below the industry average relative to your position. Same deal goes for raises. Ideally it's a company to work for to gain some valuable experience then move on for greener pastures.

Advice to Senior Managementnone really
