I have been working at Accenture full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Everyone is very nice and most people are pretty outgoing. Colleagues at every level are highly responsive. Everyone is focused on delivering excellence to clients. Funding for team building, training, social outings, BizDev, etc seems incredibly abundant. >5 weeks of vacation time. Dollar for dollar (up to 6%) matching on 401(k).

    Cons

The people are generally average or above average. There are very few really stellar people who stick around. Managing Directors get to that level because they can sell, not because they're good leaders or good at developing talent. There is a significant bias that favors those who have spent their entire careers at Accenture. They often say working 1 year at Accenture is like working 3 years anywhere else...this is really not true and is indicative of the overly high opinions these "leaders" have of themselves. Not as many "leaders" have advanced degrees as you'd hope/expect.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You really need to train "executives" (Managers, Sr. Managers, and Managing Directors) to actually be leaders and understand and embrace what that term means. It's not just about selling.

I have been working at Accenture full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    Excellent network of people
You will grow your business skills and grow as a person
You will learn how to think like a consultant
You will do good work for your client

    Cons

    Politically challenging
It's difficult to build teamwork when you're not sure who has your best interests at heart
As a consultant in general you have little to no responsibility for your own success, it can be based on how sane your client is or if your boss supports you

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't promote based on who has been there the longest/knows the material. Detail-oriented people can be the worst leaders.

    Pros

The people and the learning opportunities are great. Fun events and work life balance flexibility (for a high paying, exciting job). Great opportunities to make a difference.

    Cons

Not thrilled about how performance management works, but I do think that with proper attention to it .. anybody can succeed if they want to

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Performance management is …. tricky - not sure how I would fix it, but it needs attention …. Think about the following: currently, superiors evaluate their inferiors … but how about vice versa? I feel this would help expose the fakes (sometimes our superiors need to learn how to be better / "management" means that you can "manage" .. focus on finding folks in management that are not cut out for "managing" .. there are many snakes in your weeds, my friends)
