I had a very positive experience at Accenture. I loved the people, work, and the office environment. I found the innovative nature of the company to be motivating, most of my projects had some exciting technology compoents, and Accenture provided me with an excellent professional development experience.

    Cons

The work-life balance can be hard to balance on some projects.

    Pros

This is one of the best companies to launch a career. The colleagues and management that you will find at Accenture truly are world-class.
For those that are already well into their career, Accenture is a wonderful place to refine existing skills and build new ones.
Opportunities abound for those that are motivated and willing to put in the effort.

    Cons

Work/Life balance is something that is constantly discussed by staff and management -- the challenge is that no one discusses how to manage that balance. In order to thrive in a fast-paced and demanding consulting environment, you need to determine what this balance is and effectively communicate this to others. WIthout this, you will find that that projects and business development opportunities will eat into all aspects of your life.

    Pros

Accenture's enormous range of expertise and breadth of services is one of my favorite things about the firm. Consultants have the opportunity to work in almost any industry and impact nearly every aspect of business, from corporate strategy and digital strategy to operations, change management, and leadership development.

I'm always learning something new because Accenture encourages its people to be entrepreneurial; consultants all over the planet are constantly pushing the boundaries of business services in areas in which they have a unique interest or passion.

It's fun to work for a firm that enables me to go to a client to help them totally rethink a problem and then say "look what we can do next" and take them through the solution to change their business.

    Cons

Our Management Consulting practice is one of the largest in the world, and we strive to expand our footprint every day, but it's not always easy to find projects in one's area of interest. The double-edged sword of being an entrepreneurial place where you can create your own destiny is that you often really do have to create your own path in order to have an enjoyable career here.

We excel at a number of things, specifically operations and change management, but it can feel like Strategy gets the short end of the stick at times. Hopefully that's changing given our new focus on Accenture Strategy as a key part of the business.

    Pros

Great, talented, and motivated employees; challenging work.

    Cons

Work life balance is 100% work. Not much balance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Too much salary compression and benefits cutting -- good employees will leave if these trends continue and Accenture will become "just another company".

    Pros

I work with (mostly) ridiculously smart and effective people, I have received significant raises the past couple of years working here, 5 weeks of PTO a year, generous training allowance, and a very flexible boss (on the current project). Accenture also has annual days of service, lots of attention paid to GLBT and diversity issues with local committees devoted to those things on project. I've been extremely impressed with Accenture, and it's the only large company I've worked for that has felt like it cared about more than just making as much money off of it's employees as it can.

    Cons

My experience is mostly because of the project I have been on. I was on two other projects for short periods of time that were much more boring, restrictive, and less flexible. Your day to day experience at Accenture seems to be highly based on project. I have been building up my PTO bank higher than I want, because there's so much work it's sometimes hard to take time off.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management seems to be doing just fine. Some of the line managers are on the inflexible side.

    Pros

The best company I have worked for so far. Events, networking, training, happy hours, meeting new young professionals, connections, learn how to grow your own career and choose the path you want within reason.

    Cons

Hard to move up in the Federal market, in order to get in the top 5% you will have to work day in and day out without a balance in your life. Also very hard to move from Federal to Commercial sectors.

    Pros

Work/Life Balance, able to work remote, great people. Projects are always changing, they always want to you to move up.

    Cons

It's a scary time when your project ends and you are stuck waiting for a project. Job security can get a little scary.
