I worked at Ace Cash Express full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Good experience, kind of an eye opener to the real world around you if you've lived a sheltered life, a lot of down time if you work at a slow branch,

    Cons

Poor training, BAD upper management, no scheduled breaks and if you work at a busy branch you don't get 5 minutes to yourself. A lot of expectations for employees with little compensation. Get thrown under the bus by upper management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Train the trainers. Take a good hard look at your upper management, they are sleazy, two faced, self serving, non trustworthy people. Including Human Resources.

I have been working at Ace Cash Express

    Pros

Pay is okay. Start off between $10-10.50 which is Decent. Tattoos can be visible. Business casual.

    Cons

Raises are ridiculous. It could be even .2 cents depending on your DM. Work load is constantly increasing. Never feel appreciated. They want more and more. They complain why people don't pay off their loans. Blaming us that we arent doing our jobs. Well geeze maybe your targeting the wrong community and wrong working class. Company is all about money and don't really care about the working ants below. Which explains why there is no lunch hour 'to take a break', why office is ALWAYS open, and why it's open late hours. It's a dangerous field so why have it open so late? Oh yea... money.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work a day or two in our shoes. And if you have, stop forgetting what it's like. Also if you know we can get robbed, kidnapped, held hostage etc why have us close so late? Why have only one person opening/closing? Simple things like that actually shows how much 'management' care.

    Pros

Compensation is decent. Co-workers are pleasant

    Cons

Long hours, 24/7 on call expectations, upper management is a good ol boys club and several members are homophobic. HR is a joke.

I have been working at Ace Cash Express full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Base salary wasn't to bad, but the bonuses were almost impossible to achieve.

    Cons

Did not have all the tools to do the job. No private office, no laptop and getting supplies was like pulling teeth sometimes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Empower the Store Managers a little more so the DMs actually have time to hire, train and develop their associates - instead of putting our fires ALL day long.

    Pros

The hours are good with no Sunday hours. You can reach your 40 hours in 4 days. No late night hours and Saturdays they are open till 6:00 pm.

    Cons

Most of the time employees work alone. They are not allowed to leave the center for up to 12 hours per day. If you are busy there is no time to eat or take a restroom break. If you are sick it is very difficult to find someone to replace you, because you are the only person working

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There needs to be 2 people in a center on busy days to give better customer service and allow employees to complete necessary calls and job duties.

I have been working at Ace Cash Express full-time

    Pros

Slow days are great! You get time to do everything you are supposed to do as a manager without the constant interruption of customers. Benefits are better than nothing, they cover about half of Dental and Vision, Medical depends on what you pay for, I went to the high end after getting raked across the coals for an emergency room visit and it has been much better since. Co-workers are fabulous! Virtually everyone that works there is a good person.

    Cons

Pay is better than McDonalds, but not by much. I have heard people who work in similar positions for different companies tell me they make anywhere from $1 to $4 more per hour than what I make in less than half the time. They will only give you a raise if they absolutely have to, they are very tight with their money, this includes store maintenance, supplies and bonuses. They are constantly raising the bar on Bonus thresholds. If you hit your numbers that just means the numbers are going to go up. Clientele is about 50% good people and about 50% less than desirables. Constantly guarding against fraud and other types of scams. And if you let your guard down, then you forfeit your job. No breaks, you sign a waiver giving up your rights to breaks when you get hired if the state allows it. Under staffed, they will not adequately staff your store. The beginning of the month is very busy for any financial institution and we only have one person in our stores handling a line out the door all day long. This can be very frustrating when the main sale is a prepaid debit card that has the worst customer service I have ever seen. Lots of problems, and due to the card companies inability to handle customer complaints they come back to us, usually when we are already swamped.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Staff and pay adequately. If a store is being held together with tape, maybe it's time to remodel. If the customers are freezing, buy a heater. Don 't put all your eggs the same basket, especially when that basket has horrible customer service and constantly tries to undermine our own company.

    Pros

Endless entertainment by the general public on a daily basis for 12 hours a day. Never a dull moment.

    Cons

12 hours in a bullet proof box with no plausible means of escape no matter if emergency, death or bleeding... horrible pay scales, little to no raises, no incentive to perform.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay your employees more and you might retain them and get a better quality of employees.
