Unorganized Company, Poor structure and Disorganized. Lack of Leadership & Effective Communication throughout. CEO acts like an operator, not a Business Owner.

    Pros

Company is hunting for a new CEO. They do PC's and Hardware well. Managed Services is decent. Hopefully 2015 will bring positive changes to this company.

    Cons

Moral is Poor. Unhappy and Unhealthy staff. For a Company that has been around for decades, there is no appeal to customers of their IT offerings. Behind any competitor in regards to IT Solutions & Marketing. Currently a Box pushing company, old feel & look to this company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire Management & Staff who know the industry. Listen to your customers! Restructure so Practices communicate to provide a competitive & effective offering to customers. Acrodex needs to mature their processes to meet the current demands of IT.

I have been working at Acrodex full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Stability, company invests a little into employees who stick around for a year or more. Good starting place for young people fresh out of school.

    Cons

Wages are well below competitive standards. Employees feel completely separated from management, who willingly give false information to employees. Maximum raise year-over-year in some cases is 3%, for top performers. In most cases, 2% for non-management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop segregating yourselves from the rest of the employees, and tell the truth. Pay competitive wages and invest more in your staff. Attrition should be much less than 30%, and in my estimate, it is much higher. Too many new faces over the years.

    I worked at Acrodex

    Pros

    Good work environment
    Great co-workers
Great starting point for a new graduate
Paid training - When they are able to find training for you during their timeline
    Company Values

    Cons

Empty promises are a major concern.
They encourage you to move up; but when you talk to your manager about it, they start taking things away.
Salaries are well below avg and cost of living increases do no exist.
Unrealistic work and expectations on managed service employees
    Benefits aren't the greatest

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start paying employees what they are worth and offer more incentives to keep the better employees. Don't make false hopes and empty promises to employees looking to make this company work for them, but rather tell them the truth about the possibility of them moving up within the company.

I worked at Acrodex full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great co-workers
Contract with all major employers in the region
Nobody stays late, get to go home at the end of the day

    Cons

Revolving door so your new friends won't stick around for too long
Run into any ex employee, don't tell them you work there or you might get spit on
Ex employees hate this company with a passion
    Management does not care
Was lied to on several occasions and could prove it easily
Bait and switch on most job offers... you apply to work in Edmonton, and they want you to go work in Ft. McMoney for the same wages (that is impossible and anyone that falls for this usually quits or threatens to quit and then are transferred to Edmonton)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop acting like royalty, maybe say hi to one of your employees when you are alone in the lunch room with them instead of pretending we aren't there. You act high class but you sure aren't.

I worked at Acrodex as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

    Great people .
    Great work life balance

    Cons

-Below average pay $16.00/ hr to start . Network people make $19.00 an hour way below normal

-Lure you in saying you can get training & then boot you to the curb before you can.

-Revolving door when they are busy they need someone, when they aren't they get rid of you.

    -False hopes

-No overtime, unless approved. (which is never).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

-Give feedback to your employees & or contract people. Feedback is a tool which helps people do better.

-Some people want to be there & some don't

-the people who just don't give a dam should leave.

I worked at Acrodex full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great way to get fast experience, all other future employers know Acrodex is a stepping stone. Get them to pay and reimburse your certification and then get out quickly.

    Cons

Get used to the worst technology, the cheapest managers, don't be surprised that if you show competence they will abuse it. The company is sales driven, be billable or be prepared to have your overtime exploited.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit being so cheap with your infrastructure. Allow employee's to work from home and inspire them with flexibility.

    Pros

You get paid to do nothing.
    Paid training.

    Company paid travelling.
    A lot of free time.

    Cons

    No job security.

Everyone is an I.T. major. Even jobs in accounting or HR dept requires you to be an I.T. major.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire some business professional as your project manager rather than having an I.T. major do that job!!!

    You can get training

    Cons

    No real leadership
    Be billable or be gone
Owners only care about their reputation in the community
Good luck getting a raise or cost of living increase
    Don't listen to employee recommendations
Dealing with the owners is frustrating
Training is only if they can bill you out for more money
You're never in the head office. You're always on a client site.

    Lack of Visionary leadership

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee in Edmonton, AB (Canada)

I worked at Acrodex full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Company has some good people at the top. Good contracts, and a decent benefits package.

    Cons

A serious lack of progressive and open leadership. Many great people come and go due to the restrictive nature and short sighted view of the top brass. It is like getting asked to make a salad and then being told that you only have lettuce to work with. To grow and build, the soldiers need direction and support but also need flexibility and opportunity. That is not the Acro-way.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your teams, not just the members of the family. Trust the skills and leadership you hire to do the jobs that they could do if you would just let them do it. Know also that the numbers do not tell the whole story, they are but a single indicator. Epcor, Enbridge....many things lost due to the lack of open visionary thought.
