    Pros

Opportunity does exist to move around internally.

    Cons

Working as a consumer data business in the age of hightened privacy concerns is less than ideal. Even though leadership says they value being challenged in the hallway, it's not advised. What they really mean is "tell us how great we're doing." A hero culture is rewarded - "Joey came in over the weekend to make sure this release got into production. Yay!" That tends to send the wrong message to employees, even if subconsciously.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Lead by example. It's not what you say, but how you behave. If you want perspective and employee loyalty, get out of the ivory towers and work next to the front line employees. You may learn a few things.

    Pros

Option to work from home in certain positions for things like inclement weather, appointments, sick kids, etc.

    Cons

The current leadership seems to be making policy changes without making announcements to the associates regarding the changes.

    I worked at Acxiom full-time

    Pros

Great ideas, product is unbelievably good, timing is perfect, market is large, and vision is clear. There are so many good things about vision and timing. As well, the company is very family friendly.

    Cons

Culturally, the organization resists change. Sure, there are a lot of pockets where this is not true but overall those pockets hit friction when others see it.

    Pros

Acxiom is a good stepping stone to your career. You will learn a lot, and meet many hard-working and caring coworkers.

    Cons

My managers generally cared about my job satisfaction, but many times were not empowered to do much about it. Sometimes there is too much bureaucracy and too many levels of decision making.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Coordinate different business units so that everyone knows who to contact for support.

I worked at Acxiom full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Acxiom values its employees. I would consider them an Employee-centric company.

    Cons

Acxiom has struggled with its organizational identity having reorganized at the highest level of the corporate structure with each change of leadership. Hopefully this latest restructuring will be provide for a more profitable, effective and stable business environment..

The elimination of a Project Management Office to support and maintain a strong project management function in Acxiom's project-centric business has in my opinion weakened that discipline. The realignment by industry of the project managers could have been accomplished through a matrixed structure with a centralized-PMO organization to manage the training, development and transition across industry boundaries as business needs dictated.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More focus on employee development at all levels - entry (e.g. college hires), junior (3 to 10) and senior (10+). Including transitional and cross training.

Consider reestablishing a project management office. See comments above.

I have been working at Acxiom full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Lots of vacation, nice people, relaxed atmosphere. Finally moved to a new building & they provide free lunch, better coffee and plenty of snack options.

    Cons

Lower pay. All the process makes it hard to get things done. Some decisions are made at the top that really effect those at the bottom...meaning longer hours.
