    I worked at Acxiom full-time

    Pros

Great ideas, product is unbelievably good, timing is perfect, market is large, and vision is clear. There are so many good things about vision and timing. As well, the company is very family friendly.

    Cons

Culturally, the organization resists change. Sure, there are a lot of pockets where this is not true but overall those pockets hit friction when others see it.

I worked at Acxiom full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Acxiom values its employees. I would consider them an Employee-centric company.

    Cons

Acxiom has struggled with its organizational identity having reorganized at the highest level of the corporate structure with each change of leadership. Hopefully this latest restructuring will be provide for a more profitable, effective and stable business environment..

The elimination of a Project Management Office to support and maintain a strong project management function in Acxiom's project-centric business has in my opinion weakened that discipline. The realignment by industry of the project managers could have been accomplished through a matrixed structure with a centralized-PMO organization to manage the training, development and transition across industry boundaries as business needs dictated.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More focus on employee development at all levels - entry (e.g. college hires), junior (3 to 10) and senior (10+). Including transitional and cross training.

Consider reestablishing a project management office. See comments above.

    I worked at Acxiom

    Pros

If you are a college grad, Acxiom is a great place to start your career.
Lots of PTO and flexible work from home.

    Cons

You are in charge of your career. If you want a promotion or pay raise, you need to be proactive about it.
The only way to get a raise is to leave the company and come back.
Lots of employees leave for better opportunities or get laid off.
    Gets boring.

    Pros

The natural born leaders and hard working people. Also the fact that Acxiom gets it and understands and allows people work from home. Thats a huge plus.

    Cons

A lot of layoffs and a lot of good people are let go. Upper management can get very paranoid about their job security.

I have been working at Acxiom full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

There is a real desire to modernize Acxiom's many software products so they are web based, rather than offline. This gives the opportunity to work with some interesting technology
Scott Howe has a compelling vision for what Acxiom can be, but see the Cons
    Decent pay
    Good allocation of PDO

    Cons

Although Scott Howe has a great vision, the execution is spotty and there are too many changes in direction.
Some corporate processes are archaic; examples are provisioning new hardware (even virtual machines), Change Management and particularly anything involving spending money (I've known it take 2 months to justify spending $200 on a software tool).
New office in Redwood Shores has the least desk space of anywhere I've ever worked.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Modernize your business processes
Consider what your employees want before moving to a cool new office.

I have been working at Acxiom full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

We have a great CEO who has turn this company around. He is a visionary and walks the walk. The benefits are decent and pay is competitive but it depends on your role. Flextime and work from home options are available.

    Cons

Acxiom use to be a top 100 workplace but that was a long time ago. The employee retention rate use to be very high but the turnover rates have steadily increased through the years and we are losing great talent.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There are some areas that really need some change in mentality and possibly some upper management changes. We can improve our benefit plan by giving more options amenities at the offices.
