I worked at Acxiom full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Company has great corporate values and is a industry leader in privacy. Very good work-life balance 90% of the time. Strong team environment, great people, one of the highest % of long term employees. Very little politics in most parts of the company.

    Cons

Cumbersome system for career progression. It's better than it used to be but still a pain. While it's still a good company to work for, lay-offs that have occurred over the past 5+ years have caused it to lose it's position in top 100 companies to work for that it once held.

I have been working at Acxiom full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I love Acxiom. All my direct leaders (past and present) have supported my career aspirations and helped me grow.

    Cons

There has been a lot of change in the past year that has affected employee morale. Things seem to be picking up though.

I have been working at Acxiom full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

I have found Acxiom to be challenging, interesting, and usually rewarding. However, they are extremely family-friendly because of a very flexible working schedule and lots of time off.

    Cons

As with most companies, they will ask of you as much as you will give them, and you have to work hard to set appropriate boundaries with work and personal life. The culture of this company is very much merit-based, and if you are not a self-driver you will struggle to advance here. Acxiom leaders expect you to do the right thing without constantly having to be told what to do--you are given plenty of rope to hang yourself with, but that is your choice.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Current management, especially the CEO, is excellent.

Moving a Dinosaur Company to the Modern Era

I worked at Acxiom full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great leadership attempt in modernizing a dinosaur data company in the last 2 years!

Recently, Acxiom has been innovating and making waves in the industry! Great job to the new leadership team for really transforming a dinosaur company to the modern era. There are a lot of great products & ideas coming out of Acxiom. Really admire Scott Howe, Phil Mui and team for leading a lot of these modernization efforts. Great job.

    Cons

The traditional culture. There is a huge holdout of "traditional" Acxiom employees who are resisting the change -- and are blaming those newer members of the team for "not understanding" how Acxiom *should* work. They are hiding behind the Arkansas name for saying that the newer Acxiom based in California is abandoning Arkansas Acxiom. Did not seem like what I am seeing, and I am here in Conway AR. Many talented Arkansas employees are heavily involved in leading the change. What is shameful is that the *less talented" Arkansas folks are hijacking the conversations about California versus Arkansas & creating fissures to undermine the leadership. Why are they doing this? My guess is that they are hoping to return back to an all-Arkansas southern data company -- which is what got Acxiom into all kinds of trouble in the last decade.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make a strong statement that Acxiom is no longer just a "southern" company based in Arkansas but a global company focusing on innovations -- and give kudos to those who are trying to transform the company to a modern tech company.

I have been working at Acxiom full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I enjoy the working environment at Acxiom. On all levels the cooperation between coworkers and the drive to deliver for our clients is universal. Beginning my first five years ago I have been treated with respect and encouragement. I could not ask for a better atmosphere to spend 40+ hours a week in. The work life balance is excellant, our teams are flexable and work from home days are easily scheduled.

    Cons

It would be wonderful if we had a better benefits package.

I worked at Acxiom full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Regular feedback, opportunities for training and advancement, competitive salaries, great benefits.

    Cons

Has a history of frequent and sometimes arbitrary layoffs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Decide whether or not you're going to support remote associates, and then either do or don't. Set more realistic growth goals. If you insist on cutting expenses team by team, give the team time to cut their own expeses instead of laying people off, which only puts the burden on the remaining team members and makes it even more difficult.

I have been working at Acxiom full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Got hands-on experience to different technologies. Worked with a great team. The higher management is very transparent with where the company is going. There are occasional team outings. Have plenty time-off.

    Cons

Compensation has been slightly dissatisfying. Sometimes work can get overwhelming especially before big releases.

I have been working at Acxiom full-time for more than a year

    Pros

In my area of the business, I have EXCELLENT work-life balance; I could not ask for a more flexible schedule and work-from-home capabilities. Everyone that I work with is dedicated to what they do, gives 100%, and embodies our company's core values. The diversity of people in background, personality, goals, views, and skill sets make working here a great experience in developing personally and professionally.

Many training opportunities are offered within the company, in a variety of mediums. Additionally, there are lots of opportunities to move within the company between different job roles and areas of the business. There is an effort to have associate events to promote both professional and personal development, as well as events just for fun!

Our company has a great vision of where we want to be and seems to be making strides in accomplishing just that.

    Cons

From talking to other people in the company, I have gathered that there is inconsistency between the various organizations in job satisfaction, progression, leadership quality, transparency, etc.

The hire/fire process and re-orgs happen every couple of years or so - far too often.

Our pay is a bit lower in comparison to other companies in the area. (I believe that our job flexibility makes up for this somewhat - but not completely.)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is a need for more transparency about some of the events that transpire, such as layoffs. On that note, we need more STABILITY; I want to believe that I'm safe in the position I am in. The vision needs to be more than a statement: all levels of management should represent our vision as a united front and project that to our associates.

    Interesting Place to Work

    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee
    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee

I have been working at Acxiom

    Pros

Very Flexible in terms of work schedule, Good Health Benefits. always something to do. If you don't like to be stuck on the same project for years there is opportunity to move from project to project and keep variety.

    Cons

landscape is always changing. re-orgs make sense at times; however, there is a lack of communication on how the new org should work. About the time people finally figure it out it is changed again.
