I have been working at Acxiom full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

I love the people I work with and my team...and the technology we get to work with is great. Flexible work schedule really helps out, as well as the option to telecommute, and it makes a difference in trying to balance work and life. Granted there will be days that are long and stressful, but in the tech industry it's expected. For the size of our company, I think the health benefits are wonderful and they're only improving on the benefits packages year after year. All the people that complained about pay cuts and such need to realize that it was a VOTE put out to the workers to decide if they would take a pay cut or layoff their coworkers...obviously we all took the pay cut. Now that the recession is moving out, things are picking up and business is great!

    Cons

There can be a lot of long days/weeks/months...but the recognition makes up for it (i.e. bonuses, extra PDO, awards, etc.). The Sales team can get a little aggressive at times and sometimes make promises they shouldn't; however, with the wonderful and clever people we employ here at Acxiom, we find ways to make it work. As far as promotions out of the trenches they can sometimes be slim, but those that deserve them eventually receive them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better group training opportunities would be great. Bring back playtime for the workers...we used to have all sorts of game rooms where we could blow off steam and relax between meetings, but they took away the Wii...then again, most people work from home now too. Perhaps there is a coorelation?

I have been working at Acxiom full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Flexible, opportunities to learn, good personal life and work balance

    Cons

Acxiom has gone though quite a few reorgs and lay-offs. It is also a little difficult to advance in career at certain fields. Senior position might be as far as you can go. Salary appears lower than for the same position in similar industry.

I have been working at Acxiom full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Acxiom is being turned around to be an innovation driven company with a bright future!

For the better part of the past decade, Acxiom was in the hands of executives who cared more about the financial veneer than what makes the company last. There have been blindly implemented cuts that decimated the associates' morale.

The new management team has been in place for a little over 2 years. Lots of efforts to turn the mother ship around to the innovation driven Acxiom of the 1990's. Certainly not easy but is the right medicine for Acxiom. Lots of innovation driven projects again. Lots of interest from clients. Lots of new implementations for clients. Love working at the Product & Engineering team! Love my direct leader Matt Botti as well as our Chief Product Officer Phil Mui. Best team to work for in Conway!

    Cons

There are definitely associates who are unwilling to move toward the new Acxiom. We need everyone join hand in hand to combat those unwilling to move forward.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please keep up the good work of the past 2 years! Lots of changes for the better and the big ship is turning!

I have been working at Acxiom full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Support flexible work schedule (although jobs are demanding), promote volunteerism in community, great associates, capable leadership, strong company values, opportunities to advance

    Cons

Company going through foundational change, part of an industry change, so things change often, but its exciting and new so you jump on for the ride

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Eliminate legacy leaders that have old school values (must be at desk, must do 8 hours minimum in your seat, i'll feed you info as I deem fit) and push everyone to embrace more open communication. together, as a company, we can succeed quicker and easier if we all are on the same page

I have been working at Acxiom full-time

    Pros

I have been able to learn a lot about various different parts of software development since I've been here. Aside from the professional development, salary, and benefits. Acxiom also provides you with the ability to work from home whenever you need. Ample paid time off and an extremely casual work environment. It is a great place to have a rewarding, minimal stress, life-long career.

    Cons

This hasn't affected me personally, but there has been several layoffs across the company that generally seem to be poor planning/training on management's part. As well as positions for those laid of being replaced almost immediately by less experienced employees. This only furthers my belief that the lay offs are due to poor planning.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When considering job roles you have to not only take into account the role's purpose, but also much like in software, the role's life cycle. You have think about not only what the role will immediately provide, but also you have to plan how the role will evolve and how the skills that the employee filling that role will develop can be transferred to a new position when their current one is no longer needed. No job security is eternal, and companies have to start considering this if they want their business to be.

    Pros

Unbelievably flexible for a large company. You are responsible for your work, but can really work at any time. As long as you are well liked by the client.

    Cons

This is a large company so there are hoops to jump through.
