    Terrible executive management and directors

    Manager In Engineering (Former Employee)

    ProsGood solid legacy products.
Good Residual work environment remaining from when previous CEO Bruce C. or founders were involved.

ConsJobs are being migrated overseas so senior managers and directors can get fat bonuses and commissions from recruiting companies overseas.
New discounts on employee software suck.
Lack of long-term strategic direction - lost and floundering badly. Company has no fixed direction -a new direction every 12 -15 months.
Capable folks are leaving or have left in drove - cronies left behind.
Nepotism is now the rule for promotion.
Lots of BS propaganda by management sycophants about the company.

Advice to Senior ManagementAdvice to Board - fire the current CEO and GM's of both the BU's -- bring in some people who are genuine and capable - not some folks who only pander to their whims and egos.

Bring back John Warnock, Chuck Geshke, Bruce Chizen and/or Kevin Lynch to fix Adobe or it will be too late.

    Short sighted sales management

    Sales (Current Employee)

ProsDecent pay, good benefits, company perks (although if you are remote you'll see less of that).

ConsTop management and especially sales management is way to short sighted on the quarterly numbers. They know nothing about the products and don't care about building long term business or what is the right thing to do or what is good for the customer. Everything is dictated by the stock market.

Advice to Senior ManagementStart focusing on the long term goals and serving the customers. Hire new or if possible refocus existing middle management to be much more strategic in their leadership, instead of only being spreadsheet managers.

Great benefits, but low pay and zero job security

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsThe insurance plans are great and the premiums are low. They also have up to $10,000 education assistance per year and wellness reimbursement up to a few hundred bucks per year.

ConsThe pay is lower than average. Every year, there are layoffs. If you are not an executive, you will not retire from there. You will be laid off at some point. I saw people who were there for 20 years get laid off.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou need to do participative budgeting, not imposed budgeting. People were getting laid off and departments were then lacking. The massive layoffs every single year is a huge de-motivator. Also, compensate all of your employees equitably.

Definitely not a good place to work

    Business Systems Analyst (Former Employee)
    San Jose, CA

ProsProduct teams are motivated, talented and good to work with. Stock price has been moving up.

ConsMiddle management is awful....kiss up, kick down and almost always worried about themselves. HR is well meaning but incompetent and has no idea of how to align the organization with its values. The IT group is run in a dictatorial fashion and has become an unproductive rat's nest.

Advice to Senior ManagementClean out middle management and get your priorities straight. Concentrate on areas where you have true thought leadership rather than trying me-too products.

Good place to work.. just stay out of IT

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsGreat company culture and benefits and work life balance.

ConsTerrible upper management style. Company goes through a massive re-org every 18-24 months. They reduce their workforce by 10% only to hire that many people back in the next quarter.

To move up you have kiss ass and play the dirty corporate politics "Indian" style. Your success is directly proportional to how many high-ranked Indians you know here. If you happen to be an Indian, great place to work! If you are not an India, stay away!! And stay away from Adobe IT. That is where careers go to die!

Advice to Senior ManagementConstantly re-organizing your workforce will keep bringing you down. CIO has no vision whatsoever. Overall attitude in IT is reactive rather than proactive. They just wait for fires to go on so they can put them out. There is no solid process in place to keep the fires from happening.

Adobe IT has a terrible reputation with other teams within Adobe and they look down on it like the scum of the earth.

    Adobe is run by accountants

    Senior Engineer (Former Employee)
    Seattle, WA

ProsGood benefits. If you are junior could be a great place to get experience.

ConsThe engineering managers are all in it for themselves and while they may seem nice they don't give a rip about you. Financial incentives are focused towards the top few percent of the employees so good people go wanting and it all depending on your manager to fight for you. Many people have been there for 10 years + and it is very hard to break into the "in" crowd.

    Periodic layoffs.

Seattle is an Adobe backwater so definitely do not take a job there as your neck will periodically be on the chopping block and jobs are shifted overseas.

Advice to Senior ManagementIt's too late.... you have staffed up overseas because it looked cheaper and you now know it isn't.

    Adobe Digital Eliminating Positions

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsGood technology. Nice to see they added campaign management with the acquisition of Neolane.

ConsI'm hearing a number of people were recently let go. What's happening there? You'd think this would discourage prospective employees from taking a job there.

    Advice to Senior ManagementTransparency matters

    Layoffs are their passion

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    San Francisco, CA

ProsGreat culture/perks, SF location is beautiful, happy hours galore, great food service by Bon Appetite, great internal and external events, company momentum is growing and there are some really great teams of talented creative people.

ConsYearly layoffs, major disconnect between management and individual contributors, administrative bullies

Advice to Senior ManagementConsider admin job rotation model, clean up & speed up your communication across the board to employees and try to be such a "typical" corporation.
