    I have been working at Advance Auto Parts

    Pros

    Advance Auto Parts has all the tools, and a great system in place. As with most companies management makes all the difference. I'm lucky to work in a store that has a great team and we work together well.

    Cons

    The company views employees as liabilities instead of assets. Training could be much much better. Little pay, as few hours as possible, as little benefits as legally requited. They can't keep good help because they pay less than most of the industry.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Better training, pay and benefits for employees as well as treating team members like part of a team. If you want employees to understand business give them business classes.

    Not bad to work,but they do not give u hours,never gonna be fulltime .

    Cons

    All is bad when comes to have a weekend or a family issue,bad pay and benefits...meh.

    Psy more and give hours..make full time people you got money to do it.

    I have been working at Advance Auto Parts part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    over all an easy job get to help people that know nothing about cars if you are into that kind of thing and truck day alows you to skip your gym day if you get to put away the heavy things.

    Cons

    Management dose not care about employees says things like i think you are worth more money then turns around and says you need to prove your self before i will pay you more and never dose. Never enough hours to go around especaly in the slow season or winter months.

    take care of your people!!!

    poor pay , not enough hours, pay for performance is a joke in a low volume store as you have no way of making your sales and you wind up getting fired

    if you want to keep the good people, get rid of the pay for performance and go back to the way it used to be done

    I have been working at Advance Auto Parts part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Love the customers, mechanics...appreciate my flexible hours, but after 4yrs of employment an crazy amount of training... no pay raises...new male hers brought in at higher rate... i have to help train em and still at minimum wage. Have tried talking to management to no avail...preparing to take next steps...very upset

    Company is extremely gender blind

    To the district managers, stop being so condicending and actually listen to team member issues...at least have positive input instead of nitpicking and belittling.

    Hours aren't to bad. If you like cars and car guys, this is the job for you.

    Cons

    They don't care about there employees. Your just a number. Bonuses are a thing of the past. They set unrealistic sales goals. The company has gone down in the past 5 years.

    Pros

    There is room for advancement, lots of information is available if you are willing to look and learn it. The hours are not terrible for retail.

    Cons

    Many of the people they hire have no automotive knowledge at all. They will tell you want you want to hear about a position, but when you're in the position, all you are told is to tough it out.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Treat employees more like a valuable asset instead of a disposable commodity. Pay a little more for better employee retention, and get a real training program instead of just some online videos.

    Pros

    Nice change of pace. Your doing everything from stocking shelves to delivering auto parts to commercial customers.
    Learn a lot about fixing cars.
    Team member discount

    Cons

    Safety
    Assistant and general managers
    Poor working conditions. Within the first month the company didn't even supply me with a company jacket let alone a company T-shirt.
    Place 90% workload on the drivers
    Treat drivers with extreme disrespect

    Starting pay should be raised to $9.50

    You build great relationships with the employees at the store that can last a lifetime.

    Cons

    Work Life Balance.

    Running Store with very low payroll percentage to save company money. Leaving long hours worked by salaried manager.

    New reports and KPI's constantly.

    One week you are a hero, the next you are not a team player.
