ConsHuge field of great talent. Sometimes hard to get recognized quickly.

Advice to Senior ManagementGreat. Advancement has been out standing from store level up.

ProsMedical insurance affordable. Upper management covered holiday hours

ConsHourly wage too low for experienced professionals. Just another big box store mentality.

Love the business, but hate the noise of the administration

General Manager (Current Employee) Atlanta, GA

ProsGood advancement potential to a certain level.

ConsSalary not reflective of hours or responsibilities required. Do as you would if it were yours, but be sure to do it their way. Micromanagement central. Understaffing to the max.

ProsGreat company culture, not too big, easy to navigate and very collaborative, solution based thinking.

ConsHigh focus on shrinking SG&A which is overall good for company health but translates to very small or no annual increases for employees.

    Unrealistic goals expectation.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsThe people I worked with were great, fun people to work with. It was a real team effort. I had one of the best managers I have ever had thus far in my 25+ years of working

ConsThey are way too focused on goals and meeting sales projection, to the point where there was no longer any job enjoyment or satisfaction.

Advice to Senior ManagementLighten up on the extremely unatainable goals. You're at the mercy of the customer. You can push a product untilthe cows come home, if they dont want to buy it they wont, and those goals may not be met for that day. DIY is always going to be that way, period.

    Good company on the move.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Bloomington, MN

ProsReally good leadership team, fair pay with a good work/life balance. With the acquisition of GPI, AAP became the largest aftermarket automotive parts retailer in North America. The sky really is the limit for this company.

ConsUnfortunately the Minnesota office is closing and getting relocated to Raleigh, NC. While relocation packages are more than fair, it's a tough decision to pick up and move your family to keep a position.

Advice to Senior ManagementStability. Five years ago Minneapolis office was created and now shut down. Jobs were moved from VA to MN and are now going to CA or NC.

    Solid Company

Commercial Sales Associate (Current Employee) Indianapolis, IN

ProsCompany training to ensure success of employees. Many opportunities for advancement if you chose to pursue career with them.

ConsLow pay for lower level staff. Company is not flexible when it comes to local policies that would increase local sales. Computer system used to perform job tasks is slow and not user friendly.

Advice to Senior ManagementReview pay scales in order to retain good talent. Rework the computer APAL system for speed of use.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsFlexible schedule and the ability to transfer in and out of state easily. 20 % off parts

ConsPay is ok to pay the bills, hours constantly cutting by over crowding the stores.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop Over staffing your stores
