I worked at Advantage Sales and Marketing full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

It was close to where I lived, people are generally nice and considerate. Sometimes there is food. Don't micromanage you.

    Cons

Total disregard of quality of employee work life. Poor communication. Poor wages. Management is disrespectful and does not treat people well, you basically feel like a number. Offices have no natural light.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Improve communication. Give people more ownership. Don't be cheap and treat your employees with respect.

I have been working at Advantage Sales and Marketing full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Nice group of coworkers, work hours, the vacation, sick & floating holidays.

    Cons

I've only had one manager (out of the 4 over a one year period of time) who actually listened and cared about us. They make changes and let everyone else know except the people at the bottom-who do all the grunt work. The way they treat their employees is sad, because they are a really great group of hard working individuals. I like my job, just not the way we are all treated.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You over load everyone and even when we voice our concerns to you and higher management you just make fake apologies. They let middle to upper middle management do whatever they want, and yet the people at the bottom can't say anything...If we do it usually winds up being our fault and not the person causing the problem. Treat people better and you'll have less turn over.

    Pros

Somewhat flexible schedule. Paid on time.

    Cons

Pay does not cover your commuting expenses. Poor training, almost non-existent. Minimal mileage reimbursement for commutes. Small jobs and little opportunity to make any real income.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start paying your people fair value for their commuting. Current system is not fair to the employees. Force management to actually train their employees instead of sitting home and managing staff from a computer screen.

    Pros

Very independent atmosphere with minimal supervisor interaction.

    Cons

Unfortunately, stereotypical broker where people are portrayed as most important asset, but in reality, there really is no sense of teamwork. Fairly "revolving door" atmosphere.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Walk the talk and practice what you preach.

I worked at Advantage Sales and Marketing full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Ability to obtain certifications which could help in the future when applying for other jobs, nice friendly team members.

    Cons

No raises, no bonuses, no appreciation whatsoever. They spy, literally. Snapping pictures, hiding behind merchandise to try to "catch you in the act". Instead of uplifting, motivating, and training, they look for reasons to put you down.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get all new managers. You need it. Turnover is very high, and a lot of very good candidates are gone because of it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do your job stop putting employees against each other because your overwhelmed telling people to spy on each other making employees fix your messes cause you dont want to do your job keep track of the rodents and filthy conditions in which you serve people food from

I worked at Advantage Sales and Marketing full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Honestly there are no pros to this job. I did meet some nice reps on other teams to commiserate with.

    Cons

No integrity at all with this company. During meetings with the big client on hand we were given one set of rules, but once the client was gone the real rules were revealed. I was strongly encouraged to misrepresent or exaggerate sales or lose my job.

Pay is miserably low with infrequent tiny raised, a few cents! When I started we had company cars and gas cards which were needed for the extensive travel. Like frogs in lukewarm water the company kept turning up the heat. First the car was taken away and replaced with a car allowance. A newer model car was required and after making the required investment the allowance was pulled. Then we were required to pay to cover the company on our car insurance, more money out of pocket. Gas cards were replaced with an ever shrinking mileage reimbursement, nearly half what the government allows. Then we weren't paid for 40 miles daily. The cost of operating a car greatly exceeded any reimbursement.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat employees like human beings and quit conning the clients.

I have been working at Advantage Sales and Marketing

    Pros

In a days work you can meet some really great people... all are shoppers. The concept is good and I enjoy what I do but hate how we are treated

    Cons

It would be easier to say no anything. Not one increase in wages in five years. They do give you a recognition number to place on your name tag representing the years of service. They do not have any numbers above three years. They make it difficult to make a trip to the restroom. You work six and half hours and get paid for six. The 30 minute break!
They have a daily critique called a CALL REPORT and with some of the comments written I am sure they don't read them nor really care.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management personnel are not the most important people in the company. . Just overhead. The folks that make money for the company are those who are billed for with their goods and services. Most members shopping are shocked to hear how employees are treated. I am so sorry that an organization like this treats people so poorly.

    Pros

Not much I can even think of!

    Cons

At one point made us take a .25 cent pay reduction. District managers try to bully you into jobs that were not in area and force you to drive to remote locations for 15 minute job. This is the worst merchandising company I've ever worked for.
