I have been working at Advantage Sales and Marketing full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Flexibility
Fast paced and self Motivating environment
    Clients

    Cons

    Play favorites without any fear
HR is" their "to protect Poor leadership
Decisions are made by people who have never held roles or positions within the areas of change, which results in negative outcome all across the board.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on training instead of simply "Replacement policy" . There is no need to fix something that is not broken and if you do not understand it , have some logic and you have no business making changes or attempting to improve it. You are losing and have lost really amazing talented people in the Talent Acquisition Department . Your actions should show what you "TALK TALK AND TALK on lengthy Conference calls " !

I worked at Advantage Sales and Marketing part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Independent your whole shift, only weekend hours

    Cons

very little budget to work off of; I was walking in circles around my stand to prevent going insane or standing for hours on end doing nothing

Lack of communication, lack of direction

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Teach employees how to sell, teach about customer service provide a larger budget for products like mangoes and pineapple so employees do not waste company dollars only standing around, customers will not approach the stand when their is no product
Do not expect employees to take down that heavy sign all by themselves. I have injured my hands doing so and broke the sign as well it's extremely heavy and dangerous Decrease the amount in your boxes there is plenty of stock for napkins and supplies already in the stockroom in tubs this would save company money

I have been working at Advantage Sales and Marketing full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

no pros anymore the job used to be fun

    Cons

If you are over 40 there is no advancement here. Company keeps taking away benefits from us, you have to pay for 25% of your fuel each week, next year they will be taking away time off (sick time and personal days). Management tells us they listen to our opinions and they don't. Hiring young regional managers that don't care about people, just numbers. Benefits are expensive, I get the same insurance through my wife's company for $150 less a month. Company supports age discrimination. hard work with no reward or recognition.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

listen to employees the ceo needs to get out and visit the reps in the field

Don't be fooled by the sudden rash of positive reviews. Most are by demo people who have the least amount of stress.

I have been working at Advantage Sales and Marketing full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

You meet a lot of people, many of which will become friends over time. You are somewhat flexible in your daily activities but fully understand you are being tracked by GPS every minute of every day. Take 20 minutes too long getting from point A to point B? Then be prepared to explain why.

    Cons

Absolutely horrible pay rate when uncompensated expenses are added to the mix. Car program is the worst out there. Plan on buying a new car every few years if you have a retail route.Plan on ZERO raises for your entire length of employment. You CAN move up, but then plan on giving about 60 hours (minimum) of your life EVERY week for a few extra thousand dollars a year.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Just go ahead and make everybody part time. It's pretty obvious to anyone who has worked for Advantage for any length of time to figure out that's your next logical step in eliminating all benefits. You've drastically lowered the pay scale, eliminated all but the minimum expense towards car wear and tear, and refuse to give even the smallest cost of living increases to your employees. Nice way to show a profit...by taking millions away from good employees.

    Pros

THIS COMPANY DON'T HAVE ANY PERKS, THIS IS RIGHT TO WORK COMPANY, PAY IS BELOW COST OF LIVING IN CALIFORNIA.

    Cons

this company don't believe giving raises at all, this company pays 56 cent a mile and it's included with your pay. no incentive plans, no discount plan to help with car, You will put a lot of mile on your car, If your needs repairs, you will pay from your pay check at 11.00 hour to 12.00 hour,

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay some decent money a hour , Like the Hershey Company, that starts at 20.00 hour with a COMPANY CAR AND A GAS CARD!!!!!!!!!!!!

Former Employee - Recruiter in Eden Prairie, MN
Former Employee - Recruiter in Eden Prairie, MN

I worked at Advantage Sales and Marketing full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

absolutely no pro's came out of this position.

    Cons

Every day in the Eden Prairie office was like re-training on how to do everything, and a constant flow of confusion. There was absolutely no opportunity to maintain goals set by upper management due to this confusion.
We were promised permanent employment after 90 days, most people's temporary employment status was never changed over, therefore, they weren't paid holiday/granted requested time off.
The office Manager (who the Recruiters didn't even report to) had constant complaints regarding the new Recruiters in the office; we were not welcomed there at all. To top it off, we were restricted access to office supplies without her approval.
We lost our local Recruiting Manager a couple months into the job, and 5 additional people a couple of weeks after her. Everyone was trying their hardest to satisfy unattainable demands. I would NOT recommend this job opportunity to ANYONE. It was an absolute nightmare!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Someone from California needed to train the Eden Prairie staff.

    Pros

Loved my co-workers. Resigned.......just had enough of poor management and rude customers.

    Cons

No support from supervisor who was a terror. Rude customers. Threatened termination if goals were not met, but goals were never given to staff. Had no idea how many units were expected to be sold. Rude customers. Had food thrown at me, cursed at, had dogs sitting on my cart, people eating at carts for 6 hours a day (same customers who graze all day long). No support from supervisor who was a terror. Rude customers. I could write a book about the trials and tribulations of a demo person. It could be a comedy!

Former Employee - Field Merchandiser in Oklahoma City, OK

I worked at Advantage Sales and Marketing full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

After seven years with the company, I don't have any pros. Time eroded ant that existed to begin with.

    Cons

Lack of support for the field reps, the constant lies the reps are fed just so they continue to do the work, and total disregard for any value of the employee as an individual and the value that they posess.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

None; the management is trained to do just exactly what they are doing: nothing. As long as part of the job is completed, they are ahead of the game. Without the reps doing the work they do, nothing would get done. The company simply doesn't care.
