    Pros

Few other organizations offer opportunities to develop managerial experience to recent college graduates, and the Firm provides ample resources to ensure that managers are supported and in turn focus on supporting their employees. It's an exciting place to work, being surrounded by bright, passionate, and extremely intelligent young people who happily put in long hours to assist clients who provide value greater than commerce (hospitals and universities).

    Cons

As a quickly growing company, change is a constant. This is both positive and negative in that there are unmatched opportunities for employees to influence the Firm's trajectory and practices, but can also prove exhausting and confusing at times. Recently-modified teams and structures may change again within a few months as the business expands.

    Advice to Management

Continue to uphold research as the core mission of the Firm, even as it directs us to invest in scalable, higher margin performance technologies. It would understandably be tempting to under-invest in research, but that focus is key to our identity and success.

    Pros

Excellent opportunity for people right out of college to learn a lot of skills including communication, project management and strategic thinking

    Cons

Since the Advisory Board is consistently growing there are a lot of changes so it is often difficult to have one good manager for a long period of time.

    Pros

Given a lot of responsibility - ownership over projects and collaboration with healthcare leaders across the country if you are interested in healthcare, the work is very interesting Culture is great - work/life balance is valued (PTO, benefits, etc.)

    Cons

Standardized promotion schedule No choice as to team assignment

The Advisory Board has it's share of politics, but culturally it is top notch.

    Pros

Office culture varies geographically. The tech roles and major support organizations (HR, Legal, Finance, etc) are top notch and just down right good jobs.

    Cons

Sometimes the politics are a bit much. The organizational structure really makes no sense, but somehow it works. The problem is the CEO doesn't get a clear picture because data flows through 3+ people before it hits his ears. I would not be an MA unless it is your only opportunity!

    Advice to Management

Things are great, pay out PTO, create equal maternity/paternity leave programs (reverse discrimination is still not right), and continue breaking down the silos.

    Pros

People are very young and there is a fun working environment. Additionally, there is a lot of room for mobility and growth within the company. It is truly a meritocracy.

    Cons

The salary is pretty low for the sales and marketing associate role.

    Pros

This is a fabulous place to work - great culture, tons of opportunity for those that are motivated to take it. Support of career growth and ability to move around to get different experiences over time.

    Cons

Many of the roles require significant travel - can be difficult to maintain a career trajectory if you are not willing to travel 3-4 days a week. There is also a clear "mold" - if you don't fit it, opportunities will be limited, but probably not that different that cultural fit at most organizations.

    Pros

People--rare to find such driven ambitious and bright people who you like to hang out with. Love the people I work with. Meritocracy--they promote 30% of staff every year. If you do well, you get promoted. Not political Mission driven--works on trying to figure out how to help hospitals and universities function better. Hard to find outcomes more satisfying than helping those kind of organizations succeed

    Cons

High standards--if you don't perform well, it is clear quickly. Can be very tough if you can't keep pace. Culture not for everyone--if you don't get excited about the people and mission here, probably not the right fit.

    Advice to Management

    Keep promoting from within!

    Pros

A true meritocracy, with fast promotions for those who are willing to really put in the time and over-deliver. Time-off policies are very flexible; everyone has "PTO" rather than strict sick days vs. vacation days and they give you 25 paid days off per year, not including the generous vacation day 'give-aways': 1/2 day Fridays for all of July, July 3rd off as a thank you for completing surveys for Modern Healthcare's best places to work, January 2nd off as a firm-wide congrats for passing 2,000 employees.

    Cons

compensation is middle-of-the-road--not what you'd get in other consulting firms, but the firm is actively working on it firm-wide.
