Great for sales, not for recruiting

    Recruiter (Former Employee) Raleigh, NC

ProsThey have EXCELLENT training in place for both recruiters and managers. If this is your first job out of college (which is mostly the case), your business acumen will be impressive after a year or two of experience. They invest in those who can put up big numbers.

ConsIt is very difficult to make money as a recruiter in most of the divisions. Current models prevent you from getting paid on the first few thousand dollars of spread you put up. To maintain spread about 10k, you have to be ready to grind non-stop and work 12 hour days. You also have to brace yourself for rapid candidate and internal recruiter turnover.

The experience can be awesome if you work with great people at your assignment (client), and have an engaged recruiter.

Marketing (Former Employee) San Jose, CA

ProsBeing placed in an assignment where the client company treats contractors like their regular employees can create a positive environment. There is also consistency when receiving weekly compensation.

ConsHaving a recruiter (point of contact) that is disengaged and is slow to return calls, or sometimes may not return them at all.

Advice to Senior ManagementEnsure that all recruiters not only provide great communication with the client company, but with the contractor as well.

Aerotek - Hard work but it can pay off.

Technical Recruiter (Former Employee) Norfolk, VA

ProsStrong company culture, transparent values and mission. A focus on giving and receiving feedback. Clear goals and incentives. Can be fun and lucrative if you are willing to work hard.

Cons"Jock" mentality. It is a very testosterone driven workplace in an attempt to drive competition and success. It can be a little overwhelming. They also don't pay great, although I've heard the base salary has been raised since I left the company. You can make a lot of money but you have to be willing to work a hell of a lot. Your work/life balance definitely suffers.
