I have been working at Akamai full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Akamai's corporate culture makes you enjoy coming to work on Monday morning. We're responsible for the internet, so we're in the cloud and working with cutting edge technology. Add fair market compensation to the mix with a good bonus, company stock, and good benefits. There's no other employer in South Florida who can compete with this mix.

    Cons

Our location was acquired, so now there are more processes and procedures which we're not used to. It slows down the process, but at the same time it is necessary for a company that is as large as Akamai. A very small negative in the grand scheme of things.

    Pros

I love what I do! and I am proud to be part of an organization that delivers internet solutions necessary for the high tech. world we live in. Akamai provides flexibility for working women with families. This allows me the balance I need in my personal life to keep focused on my career.

    Cons

Some days I wish I worked closer to the city , but the pros of working here far outnumber the cons!

I have been working at Akamai as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

I've been with the company for approx 3 months and I enjoy the collaborative working environment that I get to work within. Perhaps this is must my team within Talent Acquisition but there is a deep appreciation for being able to work like this.

    Cons

Continual process improvement as the company continues to grow - this can be painful at times but overall its a good challenge.

I worked at Akamai as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Extremely helpful, friendly team. I can't speak for all teams, but I had exceedingly positive internship experience.

    Cons

A lot of company architecture is in Perl, which I wished weren't the case; a more modern language like Ruby or Python (although there may be Python in other departments), would've been great.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The CEO Tom Leighton is *highly* regarded, and management as a whole is doing a fine job.

    Pros

    nice colleagues, nice environment.
my manager is not too pushy. my work is building up embedded system to monitor the datacenter.

    Cons

    few talks between others.
hardware group is too small, and the company is for software.
so most time our group is working on how to solve others problem,we have no our own harware products

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Akamai full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Above the average benefit. Unlimited PTO as long as your manager approves. Great work-life balance. Great company outlook. Smart people to work with.

    Cons

Collaboration between different teams is sometimes difficult. Not the best perks for continuing education (~$5000 per year). Company does not get much mass reputation because it's been very low-key in this industry.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep your good work. Tom Leighton as the CEO has been really awesome.
