I worked at Alaska Airlines as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Alaska has a cadre of loyal, long term employees which speaks well of the company. The culture is generally open and collaborative which makes it easy to come to work every day. They use the PTO model instead of dividing the world into vacation and sick time. Bravo.

    Cons

Less than market compensation.is the biggest drawback, but less so in IT. Travel benefits make up for that though.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing. Running a *profitable* airline these days is something to brag about!

I worked at Alaska Airlines part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Employee's really do care about the customers and definitely travel experience is wonderful. The friendships turn into close family protective committed unity. The bond of love for work and family carries the work load pass the above and beyond mark. Truly the foundation of Alaska Airline holds true today! Caring, Customer Service, and Loyalty that's Alaska.

    Cons

The stress of the airline business is the reality at Alaska as well. Pilot strikes cause delays or cancelation and that makes the public very stressful to work with, which robs the whole travel experience awful.

    Advice to Management

Continue to acknowledge the efforts and hard work the employees do. Add bonus's and incentives to help compensate to harshness of the stress the public puts on the employees. Give back upgrade decision making to employees to customers to bring back repeat business. It's the little things that count!!
