    Pros

Great people committed to excellence and safety. No matter where I travel in the company, I'm always impressed by the capabilities and commitment of the employees from the shop floor to the middle managers. Lots of opportunities to make an impact.

    Cons

Like most big organizations, too many cumbersome administrative systems, lots of approvals needed to do anything so not very nimble.

    Advice to Management

Managers need to live in the shoes of those they manage. Managers are much too insulated to understand the pain that their employees live every day.

    Pros

Good company to work for, focused on career advancement, and developing it's younger professionals. Great company to jump in to straight out of college.

    Cons

You keep pretty busy, Alcoa is not wanting to hire very many people in the staff level so your responsibilities will continue to rise.

    Advice to Management

Transparency and a well traveled bridge of communication go a long way. I believe management overall does a good job.

    Pros

For a huge company, I worked with a great set of people

    Cons

Every now and then, as is normal for a big company, bureaucracy would interfere with good decision making.

    Advice to Management

Identify the entrepreneurs in your midst, and let them succeed.

    Pros

Its fantastic that safety is always top priority. As a salaried employee work-life balance is highly encouraged and supported. There are always opportunities to advance or gain knowledge that isn't specifically related to your current job function

    Cons

It depends greatly on locations a lot of plants are in rural area, which tend to treat women and people of color poorly. While no one is particularly aggressive in plant, its clear that if you're not Caucasian male you have to work significantly harder for opportunities.

    Advice to Management

    Consider more sensitivity training.

    Cons

Tough work environment with many union plants. Not the best work life balance.

    Advice to Management

The current CEO is a little sketchy but seams to have the stock rising.
