Former Employee – worked at Alere full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Was part of an acquisition, they're not particularly good at distributed team management, so they didn't get in the way too much.
Cons – Terrible benefits, too many people with high level titles who don't know what they're doing, lots of turmoil and management changes, irrational priority setting and decision making, knee jerk decision making.

Former Employee – worked at Alere
Pros – You're helping people quit smoking.
Cons – Crazy amounts of micromanaging. One time my colleague was told over the phone by a customer that his nickname was "Square". And she confirmed by asking, "So, you mean spelled like the side of a cube? Typical spelling of the word 'square'?"He confirmed and so she typed it in. She "failed" the call for not spelling the name back to him. Ha!

Current Employee – been working at Alere full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Committed and passionate staff that are truly interested in improving the health and well-being of the participants and clients that are served.
Cons – Poor forward looking vision. Minimal innovation and severe resource shortages that perpetuate the problem.
Advice to Senior Management – Invest for the future. Find true thought leaders in the industry and lead the industry in innovation rather than following long after others launch and have outcomes for innovative products.

Former Employee – worked at Alere
Pros – The compensation package is wonderful when compared to other companies within the same industry. There are plenty of opportunities for CE credits and learning programs online as well.
Cons – Due to the nature of the company there are'nt many advancement opportunites within this company. Additionally lateral moved do not occur often either. I have known of several internal inquiries for certain positions within the company where they much rather hire from outside.
Advice to Senior Management – My advice to management would be to not hold back with suggestions to upper management with certain processes to be implemented. In order to keep morale up for the staff you must show that you appreciate them by keeping them in the loop with important matters.
