    ProsCommission
    Promised hours
    Building relationships with your brides
Working in my career related field
Trying to fill up space now

ConsHorrible management with horrible sense of time management
No one listens to the needs of the employees. If you do voice your opinion, it's just to have it shut down by the view of the manager.
    Micromanaging at it's fullest.
I feel like I'm under so much pressure to sell that even my brides can see it. Things run much smoother (and just as successfully monetarily), yet more productively and efficiently when the manager isn't there.
    Always overbooked. Saturdays are mandatory.
I work well over 40 hrs a week, yet I'm still considered part time, which also means no benefits.
Given responsibilities of a management position without the pay raise or promotion.
Commission doesn't arrive until the merchandise hits the store.
Continuous back tracking for all methods of anything done in the store.
Systems are outdated. Though they work for the remedial needs we have, they're still fairly inefficient.
I work in a smaller store in a smaller area, so booking appropriately is a must!!! Know your limits!!

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

    ProsGood Team Atmosphere
    Make your own business
    Flexible Time off
    * Each district is different

ConsDo not get commission until merchandise comes in
    Seasonal high/low periods
Only part time availability for most openings

Advice to Senior ManagementComputer systems are ancient
Very little room for opportunity, lacking in any type of solid leadership program - Not publicly held, designers need to focus on working closer with the sales force( the actual people who know what is selling and what is not versus the vague statistical market data being received)

    Hot and Cold

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsFlexibility when it comes to family and personal issues. Laid back working environment. Vacations, sick days decent benefits.

ConsAbsolutely no loyalty. I've seen workers their for 20-30 years being let go without a thought. The systems are very old making your job much more difficult, money being spent in areas of non importance. Not much of an area of advancement in most departments. Having a degree is looked upon highly, where as experience is not. So basically they are hiring really smart people with a complete lack of job experience and it shows. Also you will go years without a raise.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to your employees when it comes to improving work environment and how to advertise properly.

Fun Job, bad pay, dead end

    Bridal Stylist (Current Employee)

ProsGenuinely care about customers, and its a fun job.

ConsThe pay and commission structure is horrible. You don't get commission until the products come in, and the customer pays of their balance. Since almost everything takes 3+ months to come in you can't receive commission unless you manage to make an immediate sale, which is difficult and only gives limited options. In addition Alfred Angelo only offers part time and minimum wage as a base pay making it difficult to survive. Furthermore Alfred Angelo will not provide you with any of the commissions you have already earned if you are no longer working for them. The computer system is seriously outdated and isn't user friendly, and it's easy to make mistakes. Our store actually only has dial-up internet which is extremely slow and our systems go down quite often.

Advice to Senior ManagementShow appreciation for your employees by giving the tools they need to do their jobs and providing better pay and commissions on a timely basis.

Lots of turnover, not enough hours to maintain full staff

    Third Key (Former Employee)
    Houston, TX

ProsLoved my store. Very close staff. Loved my immediate manager.

ConsConstantly changing practices (though the company was still eliminating Bridesmart practices) Never enough hours to keep more than one consultant at a time on weekdays.

Advice to Senior ManagementNo one pays attention when the greeting is scripted. I'd rather have a consultant who cared and knew their product than one who is focused on getting the script right and not listening

    Lack of professionalism within management

    Bridal Stylist (Current Employee)
    Austin, TX

ProsWorking at Alfred Angelo is great if you like to work 10 hour shifts in a high stress environment. The commission does add up.

ConsLong hours, management complains when you need time off, everyone gossips, lots of complaining customers, obscene idea of what is a normal amount of hours to work, lack of management respect.

    Designer Boutique? Minimum Wage Pay!

    Bridal Stylist (Current Employee)

ProsGreat co-workers of all ages who love assisting brides and bridal parties.

ConsWorkmanship on dresses is less than "designer". Many dresses are simply overpriced for the level of quality.
Pay is at best insulting in this day and age. Minimum wage. Sure you can make commission (currently 4%), but you have to wait 10-12 weeks (really more) when the dresses are actually picked up before the commission check is even generated from the company.
I'm sure they have extremely high turnover as "grown-ups" who are hired as bridal stylist simply cant make ends meet on such a low salary. I HAD to take this job because my unemployment was running out, but I am still looking for a job that pays a fair wage and can give me steady hours, In short, I will probably only be there for a month or so. Which is a shame, because I would have really liked to pursue a career in bridal gown sales.

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease do something about the pay rate for stylist. The gowns average retail for $1800+. The job is great for college kids who don't mind making minimum wage but for many of my co-workers, they are actively looking for or have another job. Restructure the commission schedule as we typically have the credit card information to secure the balances on the dresses when they are received in the store. How about commission on the deposit immediately and the balance when the dress arrives at the store. This is such an important day brides have entrusted to the stylist, A.A. should feel the same regarding the treatment and pay of their employees.

    Bridal Stylist

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsCo-workers are great, fun place to work. Clients are fabulous!

ConsUnprofessional environment. If not careful, a sale could be missed for lack of professionalism on the sales floor. Guard your clients!

Advice to Senior ManagementCommunication is key. All of the information concerning the lines are not equally shared with all employees. You shouldn't have to ask if a line is being discontinued. This information should be readily shared with all concerning parties. It could effect a sale.
