    I have been working at Alfred Angelo Bridal full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    Fun work environment when you have a good team. So rewarding to help a bride feel beautiful and confident, and to be a part of her wedding process. Commission based, so it's nice when you have a great connection with a bride, you'll often work with her bridesmaids, mother/mother in law, flower girls, etc. Loved seeing the constant flow of new designs! Stores carry multiple sizes of every dress, so you don't have to shove a size 10 into a size 4 sample and make her feel self conscious.

    Cons

    Can be a very catty environment - lots of girls in a competitive sales scenario. Corporate is heavy handed with rules. Lots of shipping issues that were impossible to resolve.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Offer more support to ASM/SM dealing with difficulties like shipping delays or difficult customers. Repeatedly telling someone "sorry there's nothing I can do" does not make for happy customers. Quit the rule that we have to cut up dresses that are discontinued or flawed - be socially responsible! Have the dresses shipped back to corporate to be repurposed (fabric, beading, sashes), or partner with a charity who accepts wedding dress donations.

    Pros

    Working environment, Commission, lots of sales support and incentives.

    Cons

    Not meeting sales goals is pretty rough. Lots of calling brides who don't want to be called.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Trust your Bridal Stylists on what brides want as far as follow ups. We spend the time with them and get to know their personality and we can tell who doesn't want to be harassed into a purchase.

    Pros

    Such a fun job! Making every brides dreams come true. Good Sales training. Typically every Alfred Angelo has a great staff.

    Cons

    Most of the time you work odd hours of the day and the pay is pretty low for what you do!

    Pros

    The people are great! Sweet, funny and caring. All these things help to create a great, supportive team. You also earn commission which is nice benefit.

    Cons

    True the company needs to update their computer systems. There should be benefits for full time employees and shouldn't be a hassle to acquire those. Even though you receive commission on your sales it can take up to six months to reap the benefits.

    Continue to support your team and they will continue to work and be happy.

    Loved working with the brides and their families. Great place to start in retail!

    Cons

    Unfortunatley, our store in South Austin closed.

    Pros

    I feel that my job is truly rewarding. I love what I do, create the vision of the happiest day of your life, with women of all ages and cultures. The fact that my professional guidance helps clueless women everywhere gives me a warm feeling.

    Cons

    Customers have such a high expectation. I understand that it is their day, but brides do not know how to take control of their maids. Customers expect you to bend over backwards for you over something so minute. You must find a healthy balance on doing what is right and wrong. Customer service goes a long way.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Praise goes a long way. I feel that my DM respects me and gives credit when due. The other store managers that are on this page writing how things suck and they are over worked. that may be true but it is all about how you treat your staff. There may be some weeks where you have to put a little more in, but the pay off is worth it. Your staff is what makes your store great. Invest the time into them and you will go far as a store. Keep the good ones happy.

    Pros

    Great business with awesome training program. Lots of opportunity to shine. Access to interact with company owners and execs. Other managers had a great attitude.

    Cons

    District Manager did not know what she was doing. Store managers did her work for her. She was a bully. No people skills. In three years she "lost" over 50% of the district managerial staff.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Get rid of the worst DM that you have. You know who she is as many complaints have been reported. She is driving your business down, down,down with her tactics and lack of people skills.

    Pros

    Alfred Angelo has been in business for 75+ years, yet is still a small, family owned company. There are many opportunities for success. Senior Management is supportive and strives to do their best with the limited resources provided to them. Alfred Angelo Bridal strives to provide the best service and deliver the best product to our customers. I have worked for this company for 5+ years and have always enjoyed my job. I have been promoted a twice and look forward to many more years with Alfred Angelo Bridal.

    Cons

    Due to the fast paced growth, changes are constantly being made for the greater good of our customers, employees and the company overall. Open to change and patience are necessary qualities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Communication and partership throughout all areas of the company are key. We are all working toward the greater good of the company. Be open to feedback from all areas throughout the company. Continue to strive to provide the best service and deliver the best product for our customers. Keep working to show employees, at all levels, how much they are appreciated and how important they are to the orginization.
