    Pros

    Higher pay than what you might get from a competitor as there’s not much else AlixPartners can offer to recruit to tier candidates

    Cons

    Whether you’re an experienced professional looking to make a move, or a fresh grad looking to start a new career, avoid AixPartners save you have no other options. I was recruited out of a top tier big 4 and was sold on a promise of a better working environment, greater autonomy, wider engagement selection, etc. AlixPartners has failed to deliver in almost every regard. At best, it is a third tier consulting firm and offers no real advantages over its higher tiered competitors. Contrary to its marketing material, the firm’s sole goal is to produce a higher volume of billable hours rather than quality client service. Utilization rules the day, and opportunities to move, laterally or vertically, are extremely limited due to the small nature of the firm. Alix however does not offer any advantage that you’d expect from a smaller firm, indeed the level of bureaucracy found here is comparable to a municipal agency. If you have an offer from one of the higher tiered firms, you’d do your career a no small favor by passing on AlixPartners.

    Pros

    High salaries for early career individuals with relatively little working knowledge and even higher wages for mid to late career individuals with no experience other than consulting

    Advice to Management

    Hire some MD's that actually know something other than selling and stop relying on 20 and 30-somethings to do most of the work. Finally, stop making unrealistic promises to perspective clients and never coming close to attainment.

    Pros

    - decent pay and benefit - close interaction with senior management - good project delivery can be competitive to MBB - some people are top and well established in the industry

    Cons

    - gentlemen's club culture; corporate value is very outdated, even though they pretend to be cool - politics can be very serious; they fire people easily - all arrogant white male; in some project, team work is a joke - they like talking about knowledge accumulation, but it's mostly people who don't really read or think innovatively copy and paste from other consulting reports

    be intelligent, be caring, be diverse

    Pros

    higher Salary than other companies Good staff parties Some opportunity to travel

    Lots of bullying goes on, people allowed to get away with it as "that's what they are like" Have to be in with the right people to get any career advance Will get rid of you in a heartbeat if your face no longer fits irrespective of how long you've worked there or how many hours you've put in. Expected to work at all times of the day irrespective of personal commitments, including dropping everything and working through the night for no additional compensation / time off Administrative staff treated like lower workers and Directors allowed to get away with being abusive towards them Consultants will blatantly lie in order to make themselves look better

    Advice to Management

    Actually listen to the Admin staff instead of just the Consultants, it's the Admin staff that keep this company operating smoothly. don't allow a manager dictate the career path of the people working under them and then argue with them when that person states it's not the direction they want to take their career
