Growing Company with a lot of managerial changes

    Buyer (Former Employee)
    Las Vegas, NV

ProsSolid Benefits, profitable company, some potential for advancement within the company, free flights, several locations nationwide.

ConsVery few opportunities for pay raises short of changing positions with the company. Some heavy handed micro management in places. Often worked holidays, but that is to be expected for an airline. Lots of turnover, due to management/corporate culture.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't think they'd listen anyway.

    Flight Attendant (Current Employee)
    Las Vegas, NV

ProsExcellent training! Starting pay is higher than most airlines (but caps out lower). J/S agreements with many other airlines. Lots of free show tickets in Vegas. Entertainment and hotel discounts at various locations. Always adding new locations and company is very profitable.

ConsAircraft are extremely old and not maintained well. B757 breaks down every other day. MD-80 is always hot and you get dripped on by something every flight in the back J/S. Afternoon flights are almost always delayed. Crew Services run reserves into the ground. The company seems to have very poor customer service. Older F/As seem to be so negative towards the company that they can make your day unenjoyable.

Advice to Senior ManagementGo ahead and sign our union contract. It will make your flight attendants much happier. It would be nice if you would invest more into your employees, especially those that are the face of the company.

NUUpper management needs a remodle. Upper

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Las Vegas, NV

ProsI loved the managers and the people that I worked with while at the call center.

ConsThe President of the company, Andrew Levy, decided to make the company more sales oriented and the company became a bit greedy.

Advice to Senior ManagementBecome more people driven and actually caring about others. You guys have much to learn. You can keep it strictly business but it makes it difficult for a person to work for you and to maintain any true form of integrity. Staying 'loyal' to a company is NOT integrity when you compromise the person that you are in the process. I honestly feel sorry for those that work there and that fly with you. There are good aspects to this company but it is within the people that work for you and who they are, not the company itself. The company needs to stop just watching out for '#1' and not just caring about it's employees when their own reputation is at stake.

    Understaffed and overworked...

    Crew Services (Current Employee)
    Las Vegas, NV

ProsSmall company with a lot of growth, you will be able to move around to different departments. It's also one of the few airlines that is still making money not losing it.

ConsMy department has been understaffed since I started, the turnover rate is awful and it has everything to do with bad communication inside the department and company wide as well as the in house system. The in house system everyone uses is slow, very manual, and not reliable, there's rumors that this will be replaced in the SOC but nothing has been finalized.

Advice to Senior ManagementWork on communication company wide, get another system besides the in-house, & listen to your employees even if you think it's going to "cost" you more.

Good Airline for parents with small children or animal lovers...

    Flight Attendant (Former Employee)
    Las Vegas, NV

ProsHome every night. Competitive hourly pay

ConsPlanes break down A LOT! Bidding stinks. Constantly flying with same crew all the time.... Company has no regard for the flight attendants.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet with the rest of the airline world. Update!

I have gained weight, and my blood pressure has risen since working at Allegiant...

    Software Engineer (Current Employee)
    Las Vegas, NV

ProsFlight benefits are OK, when you can use them. With so little PTO, it doesn't allow for much usage of these benefits. Your friends and family will get more use out of them then you will. If you find enjoyment from being generous, and giving others the gift of travel, then this will be a perk for you. Overall, the pace of work is good, though, and it seems most are not pressured to work over their 40 hours a week. Another pro is the amount of exercise you'll get walking around the building searching for an open toilet when it's time to go.

ConsAt Headquarters, at least, the misfortune of working in IT means you are crammed in like sardines, working on desks 2x6 in rows, with no privacy or space. No cubicles here, and no productivity or ability to concentrate! N/C headphones aren't even much help here. Not to mention the building houses around 500 employees and only has 5 toilets and 5 urinals for guys, and 8 toilets for gals. Also, 2 weeks PTO sucks, and the health benefits are mediocre to poor.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe excuse of being a discount carrier will eventually wear thin with employees. They will continue to see wide profit margins, and increasing revenue, yet the workplace environment they must put up with on a daily basis stinks. Not to mention the mediocre benefits. Unfortunately it seems management is content on being a high turnover employer, with no care for employee loyalty. A little more investment in the people that actually turn the wheels that earn the profits will reap even greater profits, as less turnover results in less time and money training newcomers, right?

The experience at Allegiant has been mediocre.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Las Vegas, NV

ProsThe best part of working for Allegiant are the travel benefits. There are also some very talented individuals that work well with teams.

ConsThe pay , benefits (health, dental, PTO, etc.), and career opportunities are sub-par. The company itself does not invest in human resources nearly enough and expectations are unrealistic.

Advice to Senior ManagementTake care of your employees far better so that you have longevity with your investment in people; this includes fair and accurate compensation.

Allegiant Travel has a very laidback yet productive environment.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Las Vegas, NV

ProsGreat work environment. Management is very approachable and open to suggestions and ideas. The company is very focused and results and office politics is minimal.

ConsThe salaries in Allegiant are well below average. Decisions in relation to personnel seem to take a tremendous amount of time and can get lost in the paperwork.

Advice to Senior ManagementWhile you do a great job in moving the company forward, don't forget that the people who execute you decisions need to make a living.
